P. - <br />RESOLUTION No. 593. 467 <br />AUTHORIZING CITY 14ANAGER TO EXECUTE CONTRACT FOR MAINTENANCE OF UNION - <br />CEMETERY BY THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1945-119. <br />WHEREAS, the State of California, through its Chief, Buildings and Grounds <br />Division, Department of Finance, has requested the City of Redwood City to maintain <br />Union Demetery; and <br />WHEREAS the State of California has agreed to pay to the City of Redwood City <br />the sum of One Hundred Twenty -Five Dollars ('125.00) per month for the period com- <br />mencing July 1, 1945, to and including June 30, 1949, for such maintenance; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Manager of the City of Redwood City <br />be, and he is, hereby authorized to execute the contract dated June 24, 1945, by and <br />between the State of California, through its Chief, Buildings and Grounds Division, <br />Department of Finance, and the City of Redwood City, for the maintenance of the real <br />property owned by the State of California and commonly known as Union Cemetery, which <br />cemetery consists of approximately six (6) acres in the City of Redwood City, San <br />Mateo County, California. <br />Passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Redwood City at a regular <br />meeting thereof held on the 6th day of July, 1945, by the following vote: <br />AYES, and in favor of the passage and adoption of the foregoing resolution: <br />Councilmen: GRANGER, HOL1gQUIST, MORGAN, SPILLERS, SWIFT, and Mayor WERDER. <br />NOES, Councilmen: NONE <br />ABSENT, Councilmen: BRITSCHGI. <br />ATTEST: <br />RALPH S. Fire Chief Lodi reported on bids for lamps for street lights. <br />McCulloch Sales Company were low bidders on lamps furnished by the Ken -Rad Corpor- <br />ationnow owned by the Westinghouse Company. It was not known whether these were <br />first or second grade lamps. Second low bidder was Gray-Thorning Company who handle <br />General Electric lamps of first grade. It was recommended that the contract be <br />awarded to Gray-Thorning as lamps were known to be of the first grade. City Manager <br />Rolison advised that McCulloch did not maintain stock in Redwood City but maintained <br />an office here for business. Councilman Holmquist moved that the Gray-Thorning be <br />given the contract, seconded by Councilman Swift. Motion carried. <br />ACQUISITION OF PROPERTY FOR SEWAGE DISPOSAL PLANT. City Attorney Currie stated that some <br />steps on this had been taken, there were some conditions to be worked out if the <br />committee could meet and he suggested that the Council authorize City Manager Rolison <br />and himself along with the committee to take the necessary steps. Mayor Werder stated <br />he would like to meet with them and Councilman Spillers and Holmquist at the first <br />
