484 <br />tenants could move nothing had been done about the premises as tenants made no effort to live up to requests <br />made. If possible he would start next week -end or just as soon as possible. Under further discussion Mr. <br />Wyss stated he planned to repair the building. This could be done according to the Building Inspector at <br />considerable cost. Councilman Morgan moved that owner be given 30 days notice, Building Inspector to <br />make report first meeting in September, as to progress made, seconded by Councilman Spillers, and carried. <br />ABATEMENT PROCEEDINGS, 911 ARGUELLO STREET, MR. J. F. ARCHIBALD, c/o J. 0. ARCHIBALD, (929 Arguello St.). <br />Councilman Morgan moved that notice be posted in the usual manner, seconded by Councilman Spillers, „} <br />and carried. <br />ABATEMENT PROCEEDINGS 2071-73 and 2075 BROADWAY, DR. & MRS. J. J. McCORMIC, 1995 OCEAN AVENUE, appeared and <br />protested the removing of these buildings. Building Inspector stated building could not comply to <br />First Fire Zone, and the Health Inspector stated there was a definite health problem there and not <br />sufficient accommodations. City Engineer agreed that all the other buildings were in the same condition <br />and should be removed. Councilman Spillers moved that the buildings be posted, seconded by Councilman <br />Granger. Mr. Jasmine, co -tenant, appeared and stated he occupied the steel sheathed building at the <br />rear as well as the front building, that the business established here was photo engraving, and they <br />had gone to a great deal of expense on the wiring of the building to eliminate fire hazard, etc. <br />Under discussion it was thought if posting of these buildings was delayed, the fruit store, furniture <br />store and restaurant that had received notice would also expect the same extension of time. ,Councilman <br />Granger withdrew second to motion and suggested this be placed on the agenda for a period of 30 days. <br />The motion was lost for want of a second. Councilman Granger movedthat this be placed on agenda for <br />another 30 days, seconded by Councilman Morgan. The motion was amended to include the study of the <br />four other buildings at the same time, a full report to be given on all. City Clerk was to notify <br />the MCCormics and adjoining property o'aners. Motion carried. <br />ABATEMENT PROCEEDINGS, 720 HAMILTON, AND SHEDS AT REAR OF 230.0-2376 BROADWAY, DRAPER, WILSON & McDONALD, <br />257 PRIMROSE AVENUE, BURLINGAME. Communications from Jerome Draper & Co agreed to tear down above <br />buildings, except garage which was comparatively new, and figures had been requested by them to proceed <br />with the wrecking of same. Councilman Morgan moved this be left on agenda for another 30 days for <br />action of Council if work had not begun, seconded by Councilman Holmquist, and carried. <br />ABATEMENT PROCEEDINGS, 2037, 2047, 2049 BROADWAY, MRS. MARY WOOLL. More time was requested for tenants to <br />move and the Council agreed to co-operate with the merchants in this respect. Question of whether or <br />not owner's wish to build parking lot was contingent on the razing of building came up. Councilman <br />Holmquist moved that they be allowed to stay until January 2nd and agree to abate the building after <br />that. Mr. McNeill will move in tao or three months when building is ready. City Attorney suggested <br />a statement be procured from the owner and a bond, then if they didn't start to demolish building <br />the City could do so. First motion was lost for want of a second. Councilman Holmquist mnved that <br />that this be referred to the City Attorney to negotiate with tenants and 014ners and carry on agenda, <br />seconded by Councilman Swift. Health Inspector Royal Hodge stated the food shop should be closed <br />up as they did not meet the minimum health requirements and they could not be met, and the cafe <br />should be closed as unfit for consumption and dispensation of foods. City Attorney stated that the <br />owners want the occupants to continue until the 2nd of January. Councilman Morgan moved that the <br />Health Department be authorized to order occupants to live ui) to Health requirements and regulations <br />of State of California or to abate the nuisance, seconded by Councilman Spillers, and carried. <br />SALARY AND JOB CLASSIFICATION. City Manager reported that the "Personnel Board had two meetings last week <br />and another on the night before the Council meeting, and that they were going through these classi- <br />fications very thoroughly. Councilman Granger suggested that as soon as their decision was ready <br />to present to the Council that they meet jointly in a study meeting so that certain charges may be suggested. <br />(See Page 486) <br />
