486 <br />TRAFFIC AND SAFETY DIVISION. City Manager stated that study had been made relative to the traffic unit in the <br />Police Department, that an attempt had been made twice to get a quorum of the Traffic Commission. Rec- <br />ommendations were ready to be submitted to the Council and would be submitted after the Traffic Commission <br />had had an opportunity to review them which will be at the meeting scheduled for Wednesday, August 4th. <br />Mr. Kimberley of the Traffic Commission stated that it was very rare that more than one would miss a <br />meeting, but the meeting timehad been changed and there was some confusion with different meetings. <br />i <br />Councilman Morgan moved this be placed on agenda for the meeting of August 16th, seconded by Councilmen <br />Swift, and carried. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 599. This resolution appointed an officer to report gas tax reports as provided under Section <br />2151 of Streets and Highway Code. John J. Brophy,Auditor and Assessor, was designated to prepare this <br />report and forward it to the State Controller showing expenditures for street and road purposes. <br />Councilman "Morgan offered resolution and moved adoption, seconded by Councilman Holmquist, and carried <br />on roll call. Councilman Britschgi noted absent. <br />R E S O L U T I O N N 0. 599 <br />DESIGNATING OFFICIAL TO PREPARE REPORT <br />OF EXPENDITURES FOR STREET OR ROAD PUR- <br />POSES PURSUANT TO PROVISIONS OF SECTION <br />2151 OF STREETS AND HIGHWAY CODE <br />RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Redwood City, that JOHN J. BROPHY, Auditor and Assessor <br />of the City of Redwood City, be, and he is hereby, authorized and designated as the official of <br />said City of Redwood City to cause to be made and filed with the State Controller a complete report <br />of expenditures for street and road purposes as provided in Section 2151 of the Streets and Highway Code. <br />Passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Redwood City at a regular meeting thereof <br />held on the 2nd day of August, 1948, by the following vote: <br />AYES, and in favor of the passage and adoption of the foregoing resolution: Councilmen: <br />Granger, Holmquist, Morgan, Spillers, Swift and Werder. <br />NOES, Councilmen: None. <br />ABSENT, Councilmen: Britschgi <br />ATTEST: <br />RALPH S. WERDER <br />Mayor of the City of Redwood City <br />PETITION FOR ANNEXATION OF LOTS 1 TO 6 BOTH INCLUSIVE OF SUBDIVISION OF PART OF HORGAN RANCH, said lots <br />facing the Southerly line of Woodside Road immediately joining the Westerly line of Redwood City <br />by owners, A. G. & Betsy Frank was discussed. It was understood that other subdivisions annexed <br />to the City had agreed to pay for existing bonds and that this annexation would be considered if <br />! <br />owners would agree to accept this responsibility. Councilman Morgan suggested that this be sub- <br />mitted to the Planning Commission so that set -back lines could be considered and off street parking. <br />This was referred to the Planning Commission and placed on the agenda. <br />APPRAISAL OF ARMORY SITY IN COM,tUNITY PARK AND OPENING OF SEALED BID. City Manager reported that on <br />appraisal of this property it would have a cash or resale value of approximately $4000. The State <br />proposed to construct an armory for the use of the California National Guard on this site. Due to <br />other benefits which will accrue to the City it would be to the Cityts and the general public's best <br />interest that the construction site be provided for the nominal sum of $1.00, the bid submitted by <br />See Page 485) <br />
