SKEGGS, ASSISTANT STATE HIGHWAY ENGINEER: STATED TTV T SIGNAL AT CHESTNUT STREET <br />AND BAYSHORE HIGHWAY WOULD COST $16,000. '.then installed it was estimated that the City should <br />contribute 50% of the cost, since there we -e two City Streets and two State Highways entering <br />the intersection. Plan was attached showing layout of the intersection. Major City Streets funds <br />may be used to defray City's portion of the cost and a supplemental pm ject sbtement %- triplicate <br />was prepared budgeting funds for installation, one copy for City file. Proposed signal installation <br />was discussed with City Engineer and Mr. Kergel of Division of Highways. Councilman Holmquist moved <br />that City notify the State willingness to pay their share as this was one of the signals the City <br />had been working for for some time, and offered resolution and moved adoption on agreement and <br />maintenance, seconded by Councilman Swift. Councilman Britshcgi raised the question on the type <br />of signal to be installed and suggested need of islands at this point. City Engineer Jain explained <br />that this would be a treadle type of signal, the heavier traffic would handle the signals. City <br />Manager Rolison informed the Council that the signals at Brisbane and Cow Palace were instilled at <br />a cost of $76,000. Councilman Britschgi thought this should be continued on the agenda until the <br />next meeting. Resolution adopted on roll call. Councilman Morgan noted absent. Councilman Britschgi <br />moved that City jjanager and Engineer contact State office and find out type of signal that will be <br />installed and possibility of islands investigated for a report back at next meeting, seconded by <br />Councilman Granger. Motion carried. <br />RES 0 LUT I ON NO. 604 <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY ADOPTING BUDGET AND APPROVING <br />MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT FOR EXPENDITURE OF GAS TAX ALLOCATION FOR MAJOR CITY STREETS <br />WHEREAS, a memorandum of agreement has been presented to be entered into with the State of <br />California in accordance with a project statement submitted by the City of Redwood City for expen- <br />diture of the gas tax allocation to cities for the fiscal year 1949, and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council has heard read said agreement in full and is familiar with the <br />contents thereof; <br />THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Redwood City that said project <br />statement be and it is hereby adopted as the budget of proposed expenditures of the gas tax allo- <br />cation to cities, and said agreement be and the same is hereby approved and the Mayor and the <br />City Clerk are directed to sign the same on behalf of said City, said agreement to be binding upon <br />the City upon its execution lir the authorized officials of the State. <br />ADOPTED this 16th day of August, 1948. <br />AYES, and in favor of the passage and adoption of the foregoing resolution: Councilmen: <br />BRITSCHGI, GRANGER, HOLMQUIST, SPILLERS, SWIFT and Mayor WERDER. <br />NOES, Councilmen: NONE <br />ABSENT, Councilmen: MORGAN <br />i <br />W.
