Councilman Britschgi moved approval of City Manager's recommendation author- <br />izing Recreation Director 'Aorton to place orders for furniture, seconded by Council- <br />man Swift, and carried. <br />LETTER FROM THE LAND DEVELOPMENT COMPANY BY LOUIS J. COHN was read by the City Clerk in <br />G <br />fir.. regard to submitting final map for Redwood Terrace No. 3 Street improvements for <br />Council's consideration. During the discussion Councilman Britschgi declared himself <br />in favor of a meeting with representatives of the Land Development Company to decide <br />what shall be done about the water situation and have an understanding on this point. <br />Councilman Werder was also in favor of Councilman Britschgi's suggestion. City <br />Manager Rolison stated that pending decision regarding the water would not stop the <br />actural construction as the water mains would be installed behind the curb and <br />wouldn't necessarily stop the paving. To Councilman Granger's inquiry it was learned <br />there were 22 completed units on Woodside Road and ten were to be started this week. <br />Councilman Granger moved that consideration of final map be carried on agenda and a <br />meeting arranged with the persons concerned, City Manager and City Engineer. Motion <br />seconded by Councilman Swift, and carried. <br />REPORT ON JOHNSON STREET AND ALLEY IMPROVEMENT BY CITY ENGINEER JAIN. City Engineer <br />�w <br />reported that he had contacted some petitioners and had written to others, that there <br />were not a majority of owners' signatures, signatures being duplicated by two in <br />family signing. Mr. Shaw, who submitted the petition was very favorable toward <br />getting more names. Councilman Britschgi asked if the people wanted alleys or if they <br />were in favor of abandoning them. City Engineer stated that apparently the alleys <br />are wanted and if Mr. Shaw doesn't get results notices could be sent out to get <br />owners' opinions. Councilman Britschgi suggested this be turned over to the City <br />Engineer for study and report back. Mayor Hilton concurred. <br />CITY ATTORNEY REPORT ON American Legion request for City to subordinate interest in <br />McGarvey Park. Carried on agenda until Title Company can determine whether they <br />would approve such an agreement on motion of Councilman Holmquist, seconded by <br />Councilman Granger, and carried. <br />PROPOSED NEW ORDINANCE COVERING CHANGES IN BOARD OF REVIEW. Proposed ordinance increases <br />-the number of members to five and was drafted along lines proposed by the Board of <br />Review, taking responsibility away from the Council and vesting it in the Personnel <br />Board.. One member's term will expire in 1950, two in 1952 and two in 1954. After <br />the expiration of staggered terms, new members will be appointed for terms of six <br />years each. Councilman Granger offered and moved introduction of ordinance as pre- <br />pared in compliance with the Board. of Review's direction accepting appointment time <br />of terms of members. Motion seconded by Councilman Holmquist, and carried. <br />NEW AND USED CAR ORDINANCE PREPARED AS AGREED UPON BY THE Council and used car dealers was <br />ready for introduction according to City Attorney Currie. The bond was fixed later <br />at $2000 and wording with conditions in the bond comparable with those existing in <br />- -- --- --- - <br />
