I I II
Joe Steinfeld, 850 Main Street, Redwood City, asked that this item be postponed until after a
- real accounting of what has happened in the redevelopment area since 1982. Mr. Steinfeld
again discussed the income ttom Sequoia Station, new debt ttom a bond issue for the 101
Corridor, and asked staff for the cost of this project. Mr. Steinfeld talked about moving auto
dealers to the highway, and the dealership that got pirated by Belmont. Mr. Steinfeld asked
about subsidies to auto dealerships, and asked where the money was coming ttom, and talked
about the income ttom the Port, and the poor track record of the Redevelopment Agency.
City Manager Everett spoke for the record and stated that many of the statements made by
Mr. Steinfeld were inaccurate.
Director Steinfeld spoke for the record to make it very clear that she was opposed to
expanding this Redevelopment Area, and continued the opposition not only because of the
cost involvement, but also because she was not convinced the area was blighted, and vast
expanses of territory have been taken without justification.
In response to Director Sanfilipo's question regarding Ampex, City Manager Everett stated
it was included in the Redevelopment Area.
TITLE READ.
