8.B. - Page 75 <br /> 4.14 PUBLIC SERVICES <br /> 4.14.1 Existin� Settin� <br /> 4.14.11 Fire Service <br /> Fire protection services for the project site are provided by the Redwood City Fire Department <br /> (RCFD). Automatic mutual aid is provided by the California Department of Forestry and Fire <br /> Protection and adjacent cities such as Menlo Park, Woodside, Belmont, and San Carlos. The RCFD <br /> has a goal of responding to emergency calls within five to seven minutes. The closest station to the <br /> project site (based on travel distance)is Station No. 12 located at 3700 Jefferson Street <br /> appro�mately one mile west of the project site. <br /> 4.14.1.2 Police Service <br /> Police protection services for Redwood City are provided by the Redwood City Police Department <br /> (RCPD)which is headquartered at 1301 Maple Street, appro�mately two miles northeast of the <br /> project site. In an average year the RCPD responds to 77,000 calls for service. In the 2009/2010 <br /> fiscal year the most frequent calls for service in the City dealt with larceny,burglary,vehicle theft, <br /> and assault.35 The officer—to-population ratio in Redwood City is currently 123 officers per 1,000 <br /> residents.36 The Police Department has a goal of responding to emergency calls and arriving on- <br /> scene within five minutes.37 <br /> 4.14.1.3 Schools <br /> The project site is located within the Redwood City School District(RCSD) and the Sequoia Union <br /> High School District (SUHSD). Kindergarten through fifth grade would be served by Henry Ford <br /> Elementary School located appro�mately 0.50 miles south of the project site, at 2498 Massachusetts <br /> Avenue. Grades six through eight would be served by Kennedy Middle School located <br /> appro�mately 0.40 miles southwest of the project site, at 2521 Goodwin Avenue. Grades nine <br /> through twelve would be served by Sequoia High School located approximately 125 miles north of <br /> the project site, at 1201 Brewster Avenue. <br /> 4.14.1.4 Parks and Recreational Facilities <br /> Redwood City has appro�mately 225 acres of parkland which equates to appro�mately 2.99 acres of <br /> active parkland(including school facilities)per 1,000 residents.
