The Redwood City Public Library is a member of the
Peninsula Library System (PLS), a group of 34 public and community college libraries in San Mateo
County. The nearest library to the project site is Schaberg Library located at 2140 Euclid Avenue,
appromately 0.50 miles west of the project site.
4.14.2 Environmental Checklist and Discussion of Imnacts
PUBLIC SERVICES
Less Than
Potentially Significant Less Than
Significant With Significant No Impact Beneficial Information
Impact Mitigation Impact Impact Source(s)
Incorporated
Would the project:
1) Result in substantial adverse physical
impacts associated with the provision
of new or physically altered
governmental facilities,the need for
new or physically altered
governmental facilities,the
construction of which could cause
significant environmental impacts,in
order to maintain acceptable service
ratios,response times or other
performance objectives for any of the
public services:
Fire Protection? 1,2
Police Protection? 1,2
Schools? 1,2
Parks? 1,2
Other Public Facilities? 1,2
4.14.2.1 Police and Fire Services
The project would increase the density of development on the project site and, therefore,
incrementally increase the need for police and fire services; however, the project would not increase
the geographic area already served by the City's police and fire departments. The proposed project
would be constructed in conformance with current fire codes, including features to reduce potential
fire hazards. In addition, the final project design would be reviewed by the RCFD and the RCPD to
ensure that it incorporates appropriate safety features to minimize fire and safety hazards, and
criminal activity. The project would not preclude the City from meeting its fire and police service
response goals and would not result in the need to expand or construct new fire or police facilities.
(Less than Significant Impact)
4.14.2.2 Schools Impacts
Senate Bill 50
According to California Government Code 66000, a qualified agency, such as a local school district,
may impose fees on developers to compensate for the impact that the project will have on esting
1410 Valota Road Residential Project 64 Initial Study
Redwood City January 2012
