He stated his group was chosen about a year <br /> ago, and his company is quite active in the Bay Area. He stated the company has three class <br /> A office buildings. He stated Kilroy Realty is one of the largest realty companies on the west <br /> coast, but has a national reach as well. He stated that he would like to show a 3D video to <br /> give more perspective on what the project will look like. He spoke about the genesis of the <br /> name Crossing 900. He stated coming into Redwood City is a crossing into something quite <br /> different than surrounding areas because of the work done on City plans, as well as the <br /> collaborative effort done on this project. He showed the video. <br /> Ted Korth, lead project architect, stated that there were a number of ineetings and they tried <br /> to respond every time someone made comments on the design. He stated as the project <br /> evolved they tried to integrate some Precise Plan elements that have changed, and one in <br /> particular was the proposed road extension of Theater Way through the project. He stated <br /> that they understood breaking the blocks down. He stated the Precise Plan is very particular <br /> and there was a strong dictate to make buildings traditional in character, and for this project <br /> this style seemed to be the best option to blend in with the downtown. He spoke about the <br /> general design of the buildings. <br /> Mr. Lyon noted that outside the chambers is a model of downtown, and the building as <br /> proposed has been placed there so the Commission and public can see that. <br /> Mr. Hunter stated that retail is specific to the Precise Plan, and the driveway width coming in <br /> lines up with Theater Way so that visual open is still there. He stated in older downtowns the <br /> streets aren't perfect, and by bringing that suggestion of Theater Way in turns the building a <br /> little bit. He noted that the other aspect is the allowance for a big public space right there, as <br /> well as the additional public parking.
