The Contractor shall schedule other construction actions to avoid <br /> effects to listed species and habitats,to the extent practical. <br /> Mitigarion Measu=e BIO 2: Pre-Constnxction Sutveys and Buffers <br /> The City shall have a qualified biologist conduct pre-construction surveps for any endangexed, <br /> special-status plant and axiimal species or inigratory birds 7?hours prior to the <br /> commencement of pump statian construction and aga.in prior to the commencement of <br /> constniction of the US 101 undexcrossing pxoject If any migratary bird nests are detected, <br /> the Cit�T sha11 establish a buffex around the nest unless the California Departcnent of Fish and <br /> VG'ildlife (CDF� approves alternative measures. Tppicallp a 50-foot buffer shall be set <br /> around any passerine/or non-passerine nests, and a 250-foot buffer shall be set around any <br /> xaptor nest. <br /> Mitigation Measure BIQ 3: Pre-Construcrion Surveys for Roosting Bats <br /> The City shall have a qualified biologist conduct pre-construction surveys for any roosting <br /> bats priox to the commencement of an�=constxuction activities under ot witl�in 100 feet of LTS <br /> 1�1 and Convenuan Wap bxidges. If any roosting bats are found under a bridge or within <br /> trees in the project area during pte-construction surveps,the City sha11 contact the U.S. Fish <br /> and Wild3ife 5ervice (USFWS) or CDFW to determine how to praceed. Typically,the City <br /> shall passivelp exclude or evict the roost site for two consecutive daps. If there is a period <br /> without construction activity within 100 feet of the bridges auring the bat raosting season,an <br /> additiona�bat pre-construcrion survey shall be conducted. <br /> Mitigation Measure BIO 4: Install Exclusionary Fencing <br /> Prior to the onset of construction within 100 feet of Redwood Creek, the Contractor shall <br /> install exc�usionary fencing ataund the project area iimits to prevent special-status species <br /> from entering the project area. Duting the installation of wildlife exclusionary fencing,a <br /> qualified biologist shall monitor the area for any potenrial presence of endangered or special- <br /> status species. In the case an endangered or special-status species is found,the CDFW or <br /> USF\�IS shall be cantacted for the appropriate procedures to follow for the protecrion oF the <br /> species. <br /> Mitigation Measure BIO 5: Employee Education and Awareness Train'a <br /> Prior to construction of the pump starion and US 101 undexcrossing, a pxofessional biologist <br /> shall conduct an educarional program for construcrion personnel.
