files. Sufficient local monuments will be surveyed to establish a basis of bearings for the field
surveys and to enable the record right of way lines to be plotted in relation to the topographic
information collected. A City benchmark will be tied by digital levelling methods to establish vertical
control for detailed topography survey at 22 curb returns. The survey work does not include
procurement of title reports, pothole surveys, construction staking, boundary survey, right of way
engineering, and legal descriptions and plats. It is assumed that no aerial mapping will be needed
but that detailed topography mapping of each of the 22 curb returns for proposed bulbouts will
provide the appropriate control data for design.
2. b Utility Coordination
Consultant will coordinate with the City, PG&E, Comcast, AT&T, and other utility companies with
facilities in the area to obtain utility mapping for the project limits. Consultant will coordinate with
utility companies for minor relocations of their facilities but it is assumed that major utility relocations
will not be necessary for the scope of the project. If particularly large or complicated utilities are
encountered that must be relocated to accommodate project needs and they require extensive
coordination efforts with utility companies, these would need to be handled through a separate
amendment process.
2.c Prepare Existing Conditions Base Map
Consultant will prepare an existing conditions base map in AutoCAD using Google Pro aerial
images scaled to the correct California State Plane Coordinates and the topography information
obtained from the topography survey. The base map will include the existing utilities and storm
drain systems from the utility coordination effort and will show the existing right of way information
available from right of way record maps.
2.d Prepare Conceptual Design and Cost
Consultant will prepare a preliminary concept design with base mapping for City review based on
the initial discussions and meetings with the City. The concept design will include a preliminary
estimate of construction cost and identify potential add options and their associated costs. These
will be reviewed and discussed with the City to revise and refine the design concept and anticipated
improvements. Consultant will prepare a design recommendation memo to indicate the
recommended improvements and available options.
2.e Prepare 35% Design and Cost
Based on input from the preliminary concept design, Consultant will prepare 35% level design plans
and construction cost estimate. The 35% plans will include layout sheets, typical cross sections,
draft grading plans, proposed drainage modifications, potential utility relocations, and preliminary
sign plans.
Task 2 Deliverables:
• Existing conditions base map in AutoCAD and PDF
• Conceptual design plan in AutoCAD and PDF
• Design recommendations memo in Word or PDF
• 35%design plans in AutoCAD and PDF
• 35%level construction cost estimate in Excel
TASK 3—75%DESIGN
3. a Address 35% Comments
Consultant will review the 35% design with the City and address the comments and concerns
provided by the City in a formal commenUresponse matrix before continuing the design to the next
level. Consultant will finalize the list of recommended improvements with the City.
ATTY/AGR/2013.216/MARK THOMAS&CO
REV:11-7-13 VR
