Council Member Hartnett recommended that the impact of the Utility User
Taac and fees (sewer, water, etc.) on seniors with fixed, limited incomes be
examined. Perhaps the Utility Committee could review this at the same time
or sooner.
Vice Mayor Ruskin supported both requests. As Chair of the Utility
Committee, he accepted the suggestion to review the impact on seniors, with
the approval of the Mayor. Mayor Howard expressed approval.
Council Member Bain also agreed with the recommendations.
B. Council Member Ira suggested signage at City borders welcoming people to
Redwood City and defining boundaries. This is especially important along EI
Camino Real, which the City is working to "clean up."
The Mayor suggested staff identify current signage and recommend possible
sites for more. Council Member Bain agreed with the concept, as did Council
Member Hartnett. Signage is particulazly difficult in azeas when one side of
the street is Redwood City and the other is County. The Ciry and County
could work together on codes and enforcement.
Council Member Bain suggested staff begin studying this and come back
with information, including the cost of signs. Mayor Howard suggested the
Council speak with the Boazd of Supervisors regarding the ban of sex
businesses.
C. Mayor Howard reviewed the status of the project to remove derelict and
abandoned boats from the waterways. When completed, the project will have
removed approximately 100 vessels.
The Mayor announced that Pastor Jim Anderson has retired.
E. Council Member Bain reported that at the September 21 meeting the Web
Site Design Committee will present a proposal.
MEMO 9/1/98
---------°--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7. STAFF REPORTS
A. Stop Sign Installation—Wazwick Street. (701)
1) RESOLUTION NO. 13449 ESTABLISHING AND DECLARING
DESIGNATED ENTRANCES TO CERTAIN HEREIN SPECIFIED
INTERSECTION TO BE STOP ENTRANCES.
Traffic Engineer Haygood and Dan Smith reviewed the report for Council.
Mr. Haygood has received five "yes" votes, two "no" votes, and seven "no
responses" regazding the proposed stop sign at Warwick Street and Finger
Avenue.
COLJNCIL MINUTES Page No. 130 PAGE 9
