7.1.A. - Page 28
facilities will be constructed within existing public streets, no significant impacts to biotic resources in
that portion of the project area are anticipated. The project would also not conflict with any Habitat
Conservation Plan, Natural Community Conservation Plan or other approved local, regional or state
habitat conservation plan in the project area.
Special Status Species— Pipeline construction in the Greater Bayfront and Central Redwood City
areas will primarily occur within existing roadways and public rights-of-way. It is assumed that
the pipeline will be at a safe distance (several hundred feet) from sensitive slough and salt
marsh habitats.
Riparian and Salt Marsh Habitats — No riparian habitat appears to be present along the
proposed pipeline alignments; however, salt marsh and tidal flats are located in the vicinity of
the Greater Bayfront areas of the project.
Wetlands — Wetland issues are common in areas near San Francisco Bay. For the purposes of
this document, however, it is assumed that pipeline construction will not result in grading,
filling, or other construction activities that would be subject to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
(COE) permit jurisdiction under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act.
Tree Protection — The project would not conflict with City policy to protect sensitive native
habitats and trees. The project will comply with the City's provision for tree preservation
(Chapter 35 of Redwood City Municipal Code).
5. CULTURAL RESOURCES.
