7.1.A. - Page 41
environmental impacts, in order to maintain acceptable service ratios, response times or other
performance objectives for any of the public services:
Potentially Less Than Less Than
Significant Significant with Significant
Impact Mitigation Impact Impact No Impact
i. Fire Protection x
ii Police Protection x
iii Schools x
iv Parks x
iiv Other public facilities x
ANALYSIS:The project area is served by the City of Redwood City police and fire departments. There are
also numerous schools and parks within the project area that will be served by the project. There are no
other public facilities that would be affected by the project. The Public Works Services Department
provides the police and fire departments adequate notice of any work that would require road closures,
or roadwork that could impede the progress of emergency vehicles. These departments are also
informed through the permitting process of any work that would require shut-off of a fire hydrant or
otherwise impede their work. In addition, the City requires a listing of emergency contact numbers to
allow the police and fire departments to contact the responsible City staff person should the need arise.
Because of these requirements, the proposed project is not anticipated to cause significant impacts to
public services, and no mitigation measures are required.
14. Would the project increase the use of existing
neighborhood and regional parks or other recreational
facilities such that substantial physical deterioration of x
the facility would occur or be accelerated?
b. Does the project include recreational facilities or
require the construction or expansion of recreational
facilities which might have an adverse physical effect x
on the environment?
ANALYSIS:The recycled water pipelines would be used to irrigate many recreational facilities (i.e., parks)
in Redwood City. The storage reservoir/pump station site in Central Redwood City may be located within
Red Morton Community Park; depending on the location, construction within this facility may
temporarily disrupt some recreational or other park uses.
