MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST <br /> A. Update from Parking Meter Subcommittee - Council Member Hartnett; (210) <br /> Council Member Hartnett advised that the Subcommittee had mét several times and <br /> substantial progress had been made. He said a detailed report and recommendations would <br /> be forthcoming in the near future. He said staff was working closely with the new <br /> downtown business group, and the Subcommittee would also meet with its leadership. <br /> MEMO 3/17/98 <br />- <br /> B. Council Member Bain asked that discussion of the City's Web Site be scheduled for an <br /> upcoming agenda, perhaps April 6. He said he had discussed this subject with staff and <br /> members of the community about ways to add value to the Site, and he felt it was <br /> important for the Council to get involved "because of the image we project with our Web <br /> Site." Council Member Bain said he had some recommendations for the Site and he <br /> would be glad to serve on a Council Subcommittee on this issue. Council Member <br /> Leipzig asked for a one-page memo describing the proposed recommendations. (205) <br /> MEMO 3/17/98 <br /> C. Council Member Hartnett announced that the Canada College Mens Basketball team, <br /> co-conference champions, was in the State Championships this past w~ek for the very first <br /> time. He also announced that Canada's coach, Mike Lagarza, was named Coach of the <br /> Year for the State of California. He asked that Council honor Coach Lagarza's <br /> achievements at a future date. (207) <br /> MEMO 3/17/98 <br /> D. Vice Mayor Ruskin, Chair of the Bair Island Task Force, reported that the group has one <br /> more meeting scheduled, and then a report, including recommendations, will be brought <br /> back to Council.
