<br /> . . . . . - <br /> Mayor Howard described last week's discussion of a Skate Park in Redwood City and the <br />- Council's support. She said the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department, the <br /> Park and Recreation Commission and the Youth Advisory Board were researching this issue <br /> and would report back to Council in the near future. <br /> MEMO 5/19/98 <br /> D. Keith Bautista, 3010 Sterling Way, representing the Redwood City-San Mateo County <br /> Chamber of Commerce, informed the Council about the Chamber's Education Committee, <br /> chaired by David Stuart. Mr. Bautista reported that through the Committee's help the multi- <br /> purpose rooms at Taft and Fair Oaks Schools will be increased from 4,500 to 6,500 square <br /> feet. He described the commitment of $600,000 for this effort which will increase <br /> neighborhood recreational opportunities for the community. Mr. Bautista said that the <br /> Chamber was "extremely interested in creating the alliance and cooperation between <br /> education and business." <br /> Vice Mayor Ruskin said he would provide further details on this matter under Council Item <br /> 5.A. <br /> MEMO 5/19/98 <br /> E. Jason Strubing, 137 Roosevelt, owner of Skate Works, expressed his support for a Skate <br /> Park in Redwood City. He described a survey his shop conducted last week that showed the <br /> interest in skating in Redwood City. <br />- MEMO 5/19/98 <br /> -------------______n_--------------------------------------------------------------------------------______n--______nn- <br /> Mayor Howard recessed the Council Meeting at 7:56 p.m. in order to call to order a special <br /> Redevelopment Agency Meeting. Mayor Howard announced that the Redevelopment Agency <br /> would be postponed to immediately following the adjournnIent of the Council Meeting due to the <br /> many people in the audience who wished to speak to issues on the Council agenda. <br /> Meeting reconvened at 7:59 p.m. <br /> _n_________n____--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> 3. CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> COUNCIL MEMBERS ASKED THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS REGARDING ITEMS ON <br /> THE CONSENT CALENDAR: <br /> 3.F. Architectural Development Designs relating to Stulsaft and Stafford Parks: (100) <br /> In response to Council Member Ira's questions regarding Item 3.F., City Manager <br /> Everett said that architectural services fees of 10 to 12% of the total budget was "the rule <br /> of thumb. They are a little on the high side, but they are in the ball park."
