7.1.B. - Page 14 <br /> • Laboratory Testing — Representative samples from the subsurface <br /> exploration will be tested for index and strength properties to <br /> provide a basis for determining retaining wall design criteria. <br /> 3.1.3 Geotechnical analysis and reporting including conclusions and design <br /> recommendations and technical report. <br /> • Conclusions and Design Recommendations — CSA will analyse <br /> field and laboratory data to formulate geotechnical conclusions and <br /> retaining wall design criteria, including: suitable retaining wall <br /> foundation type and depth for the embedment; site grading and <br /> drainage recommendations; foundation design criteria; and <br /> estimated settlement behaviour of the wall. <br /> • Technical Report — CSA will prepare a geotechnical report and <br /> appropriate illustrations (based on a topographic base map <br /> provided to CSA) to summarize the findings of the investigation. <br /> The report will contain an assessment of observed site conditions, <br /> and provide geotechnical engineering conclusions and <br /> recommendations for the proposed retaining wall. Four (4) copies <br /> of the report and associated illustrations will be submitted. <br /> 3.2 Consultant will make a site visit and take hand measurements to determine <br /> approximate limits and extent of site work. This above ground visual inspection will <br /> be used in conjunction with the topographic survey and geotechnical investigations <br /> performed to gain a good understanding of the site conditions, restrictions and <br /> opportunities for design. Any as -built or topographic maps provided from the City <br /> will also build on this effort. <br /> 3.3 75% Civil Design <br /> 3.3.1 Consultant will coordinate with utility companies for minor relocations of their <br /> facilities due to project impacts, but it is assumed that major utility relocations <br /> will not be necessary for the scope of the project. If particularly large or <br /> complicated utilities are encountered that must be relocated to accommodate <br /> project needs and they require extensive coordination efforts with utility <br /> companies, these would need to be handled through a separate amendment <br /> process. <br /> The drainage plan for the proposed retaining wall improvements will also be <br /> prepared under this task, including valley gutter and drainage inlet systems <br /> both behind /on top of the wall and in front/at the base of the wall. <br /> Modifications or connections to the existing drainage system will be included <br /> in this effort, including construction details and drainage profiles as <br /> necessary. <br /> 3.3.2 Layout and grading plans will be prepared for the proposed retaining wall <br /> including associated roadway widening and drainage improvements.
