sometime in the future, Redwood City would not have to do another separate traffic study
on that parcel.
City Manager Everett said "the advantage to us if this is done by (Belmont) at this time
is, since we know Oracle is interested in building yet another building on our parcel, it
would save us the effort to go through the traffic study for that particular parcel. Also, the
reason they are asking to do it jointly is they are looking at the cost and the use of the foot
bridge that would span that Slough for Oracle employees. It will terminate within
Redwood City."
Mayor Hartnett asked "would this result, if we adopt a resolution, in the City of
Redwood City giving up any of its authority over the approval (process) of the Oracle
expansion that is planned with Redwood City itself?" City Manager Everett said "None
whatsoever." In answer to further questions regarding input into the traffic studies, City
Manager Everett said "we certainly have the right to comment on their EIR, and we will
do so if we feel there are any inadequacies within that study. Ifwe found it inadequate, we
would comment on their study, and then we might then do another study. This would not
preclude us ITom doing that when we develop."
Senior Planner Passanisi added that "I have been working closely with the Planning
Director of Belmont on this project, and we are going to be working together on reviewing
the EIR and being sure that this traffic study does address Redwood City's concerns."
Mayor Hartnett suggested to staff that if "Belmont is not paying sufficient attention to
the questions and concerns that you have, that that be brought to the Council's attention so
that we can bring that to the attention of the Belmont Council."
MEMO 1/7/97
Mayor Hartnett asked staff to provide progress reports on this project describing issues
being considered.
MINUTE ORDER NO. 97-005
MIS: LEIPZIGIRUSKIN.
