MIS: BUCHAN/LA BERGE. TITLE READ.
RESOLUTION NO. 13142 APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF
AGREEMENT FOR ARCillTECTURAL AND CONCEPTUAL DESIGN SERVICES
RELATING TO THE RENOVATION OF PLAYGROUNDS AT STULSAFT AND STAFFORD
PARKS (Moore Iacofano Goltsman, Inc.) (304);
ADOPTED BY UNANIMOUS ROLL CALL VOTE OF MEMBERS PRESENT.
------______n______-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
P. This item removed by Mayor Hartnett for further discussion.
Execution of Agreement Between County of San Mateo And City of Redwood City,
Service Area No.8. (304)
REPORT: Fire Chief Montenero, June 26,1997
Mayor Hartnett said, "I asked that we pull this, and Council, what I suggest we do for
this tonight, we re-calendar this for our next meeting which would be our first meeting in
August, for a number of reasons. The contract has only recently become available for
evaluation. I think there are a couple of issues that need to be explored a bit further in the
contract, before the Council is in the position to vote on it. It is my understanding that,
such contract that we may approve with the County is retroactive to July 1, so that, should
we not take action tonight, and take action at our first meeting in August, and the
retroactive term in it remains, I would expect that the services that have been provided
since July I would be provided in accordance with the contract. So I don't think it puts us
in an untenable, legal position. I personally would simply prefer to have some work done
on this a little more, before we find ourselves in a position to vote on it. Unless any of you
would prefer to do otherwise, I would prefer to put it off to August."
In response to Councilman Leipzig's question asking if this was a matter that occurred
since Thursday, Mayor Hartnett said, "Yes, it has come up since Thursday, in the sense
that, since Thursday I've had a chance to obtain and review the contract, and I think there
are some legal and operational issues that perhaps would be better addressed in the interest
of both parties, and as such, I feel uncomfortable having to deal with the contract tonight,
until those issues might be better addressed, and I hope we can do that at our next
meeting." Mayor Hartnett said these were not matters that could be changed tonight, and
would take further discussions with the City's counterparts at the County.
Councilwoman Buchan said she agreed with the Mayor's comments and said she did "not
feel comfortable moving ahead with this until we have had a thorough discussion."
CONSENSUS: Mayor Hartnett deemed it the consensus of the Council to table this
item until the next City Council meeting on August 18, 1997.
MINUTE ORDER NO. 97-161
REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING MINUTE BOOK NO. 55 JULY28,1997
MINUTES Page No. 482 PAGE 8
