Purchase of planters and accessories for the new City Hall; (110)
REPORT: Engineering and Construction Manager Patterson, July 28, 1997
Engineering Manager Patterson presented the staff report and showed pictures of the
subject articles. The cost will be $21,194.45 for planters, lobby seating and trash
containers. TITLE READ.
RESOLUTION NO. 13181 APPROVING PURCHASE OF PLANTERS AND ACCESSORIES
FOR THE NEW CITY HALL
ADOPTED BY UNANIMOUS ROLL CALL VOTE.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B. Approve the Joint Powers Agreement Establishing the San Mateo Pre-Hospital
Emergency Services Providers; (304)
-- REPORT: Acting Fire Chief Montenero, August 12,1997
Mayor Hartnett said the Council had discussed this many times and had received a
complete report.
Councilman Claire said this JP A would put Redwood City firefighters fIrst on the scene
with paramedic training and expertise, and it will be very beneficial to the citizens of
Redwood City.
Acting Fire Chief Montenero explained how this JP A would put a paramedic on each
fire engine in the County and reduce response times for on scene medical assistance.
There would be one paramedic in the ambulance and one paramedic on the fire engine
which reduces the cost to the ambulance provider thereby reducing the cost to fire
protection services which will pay for the paramedic on the fire engine. In response to
Council questions, Fire Chief Montenero said he hoped Woodside would eventually join
the JP A. He said paramedic training takes about one year and Redwood City is hoping to
train 13 of its fIrefighters.
Vice Mayor Howard reminded everyone that over 80% of calls to the fire department
are medical emergencies so this training will be extremely beneficial. Chief Montenero
said Redwood City fIrefighters and paramedics will be on the scene in an average of 3-4
-- minutes.
REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING MINUTE BOOK NO. 55 AUGUST 25, 1997
MINUTES Page No. 513 PAGE 15
