City Attorney Currie advised that the <br /> Assessor� s records could not be used to determine the legality of a lot split, but that <br /> the Buildin� Inspector� s oPfice should withhold the building permits until the legality <br /> �,,,., could be determined. <br /> � STREET L:1GHT�LNG COMMITTEEtS REPORT regardin� li�ts on E1 Cam.ino Real. City Manager Rolison <br /> advised the Pacific Gas & Electric Company had been requested to make a study and recom- <br /> mendations of lighting of E1 Camino Real from t he north to the south City limits, upon <br /> receipt of which he would confer with the State Highway Commission in an endeavor to <br /> � <br /> ' work out a complete lighting plan which will then be submitted to the City Council for <br /> � <br /> consideration. Councilman Granger moved acceptance of report, the matter to be referred <br /> to the budget corrnnittee for study to find means to light E1 Camino Real. Motion seconded <br /> by Councilman Spillers and earried. Councilman Granger then asked the present status of <br /> lighting on the east side of El Camino Real and was advised by the City Manager that the <br /> matter had been referred to t he County Supervisor and the Menlo Lighting District but no <br /> reply had been received up to the present. Councilman Granger then moved that the City <br /> Clerk contact the Menlo Lighting District and obtain information on the subject to <br /> report back at the meeting of May 10th. Motion seconded by Councilman Spillers and <br /> carried. <br /> SUGGESTIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS FROM CITY COUNCIL AND DEPARTMENT I�EADS: Councilman Royer, in. <br /> discussing baseball agreements, moved that the merchants teams be liable for all expense� <br /> ""� and in return be allowed to take all the gate receipts. It was explained that the <br /> �, � expenses consisted of cost of umpires, balls, bats, insurance, etc. , Councilman Spillers <br /> seconded the motion which carried. <br /> Councilman Royer discussed the proposed construction of the Doolittle buildin� on Kaynyne <br /> Street and his request for extension of water line. Cit� Manager was requested to bring <br /> in information together with City Engineer and Water Superintendent� s reconunendations for a <br /> study meeting on Ma� lOth, 7:30 P.M. , City Manager' s office. <br /> COUNCILMAN GRANGER asked what had happened to the proposed POLICE FALSE ARREST INSURANCE. Cit�r <br /> Attorneg Currie stated that he had checked and the original recommendation was to sug�est <br /> that the officers join the State Police Officer� s Association. However, their insurance <br /> representative has checked and there is some possibility of obtaining the same type of <br /> insurance without joining that organization. Agenda, May lOth. <br /> ,� COUIVCILMAN GR.ANGER su�gested that the CITY ASSESSOR BE APPOINTED TO THE REAL ESTATE COMMITTEE, <br /> and Mayor Herkner approved the suggestion. <br /> � <br /> COUNCIL�IIAN GRANGER coimnented on the political signs, pictures, circus posters, etc. , on Broad- <br /> way and Main Street. He suggested that it �ras time to take action to prevent a recurrence <br /> of this situation, possibly by demanding a bond to guarantee removal or other preventative <br /> � <br /> measures. Matter placed on the agenda of May �l7th, the Council, meanwhile, to give some <br /> � <br /> thou�t to the matter. <br /> RESOLUTION 1687.
