Motion seconded by Councilman <br /> Jones and carried. <br /> � <br /> ABATEMENT PROCEEDiNGS: Davies Building, 110!} Jefferson Avenue, REINSPECTION. Assistant <br /> .�.rr <br /> Building Inapector Kreiss and Fire Chief Lodi made a reinspection of a two story apart- <br /> ment building at 110�.�. Jefferson Avenue, the property of Albert H. & Thomas Davies. <br /> The following is their report: <br /> 1. Wood f'oundation with piers on outer walls, wood rotting. � <br /> 2. Front porch stairs falling apart. <br /> 3. Rear and side porches rotten. � <br /> I{.. Subs tandard wiring. <br /> 5. Illegal vent on heater in living room, also ille�al gas connection - <br /> connected with rubber hose. <br /> 6. Floors on lower floor out of levei. <br /> 7. Upstairs out of plumb. <br /> 8. Illegal wiring. <br /> 9. Bathroom opens off kitchen; window opens onto closed porch. This is illegal. <br /> 10. Insuff'icient head room in front over stairs. <br /> 11. Water heater in bathroom - illegal. <br /> 12. Building is in No. 1 F'ire Zone and car:not be made to comply with the <br /> requirements of' No. 1 Fire Zone. <br /> It is the recommendation of this `department that the building be demolished and the <br /> lot cleared. <br /> Fire Chief Lodi reported that there was an elderly person living on the second floor <br /> which in his opinion was unsafe. After discussion as to whether or not owners had <br /> received sufficient notification, Councilman Britschgi moved the matter be held over <br /> for one week, no building permit to be issusd during that time. Motion was seconded � <br /> by Councilman Stout. Councilman Crran�er suggested that the owners be requested to ""� <br /> removed the tenant immediately. However, after f urther discussion, Councilman Jones <br /> offered an amendment to the motion to the effect t hat the building be posted immediatel�t <br /> seconded by Councilman Spillers. Councilman Stout again raised the question regarding <br /> owr�ers having been notified of t he proposed abatement. It developed that the Davies <br /> had kno�vn of this for some time and also that the notice of posting, copy of which was <br /> mailed to the owner, establish a date for a hearing. Amendment carried. Councilmen <br /> Britschgi and S�out voting No. <br /> ABATEMEi�T PROCEEDINGS: OLD SHAC� ON F'RANKLIN STREET ONE BLOCK �'RON JE�'FERSON AVENUE, DAVIES <br /> THE OiI�NER. This vuas a reinspection. The following is the report of the Assistant <br /> Building Inspector and Fire Chief: <br /> 1. 81 x 14� shed made of' Uoard and batten and rustic. "�' <br /> 2. No foundation. <br /> 3. Roofing gone. �,.� <br /> 5. Leaning badly. <br /> . Full of rubbish. <br /> 6. Potential rat harbor. <br /> 7. Potential fire hazard. <br /> 8. In No. 1 Fire Zone, does not comply. <br /> 9. Building on property line. <br /> 10. Lot at rear of building full of junk. �' <br /> It is the recommendation of these departments that the shack be demolished ° � <br /> and lot cleared. <br /> Council:nan Spillers moved that the shack be posted, seconded by Councilman Jones and <br /> carried. <br /> ABATEMENT PROCEEDINGS OV BERGA BUILL'ING, 21}3-1/2 Hazel Avenue, Redwood City, has been <br /> torned down.
