C4UNCILMA� JOi�1ES DISCUSSED THE SMOG SITUATION and suggested that t he City Manager get some ans�er to the solution in so f ar as our own City Dumps are concrened. Councilman Stout also discussed the matter and stated his opinion that the same regulations � should be formulated segregating combustible materials and covering materials which .�r can not be burned. The Clerk was instructed to request the Mayor to appoint a smog committee to make further study of the situation. COUNCILMAN BRITSCHGI DISCUSSED THE V�EED ABATETv�NT PRQGRAM whereby outside help was being hired and asked who was going to handle checking of the lots cleaned by the contractor. ""�! It was decided that it was the responsibility of the Park Superintendent to turn in �rr the informatio�' to the City Engineer� s office. COUi'�CILMAN STOUT MADE PRQGRESS REPORT on t he proposed Youth Center stating that a letter had been prepared f or t he various service clubs asking for their assistance. Further report will be made PJIay 17th. COUNCILMAN GRAPyGER CALLED ATTE'�TION TO THE AREA in the vicinity of Fire Station No. 1 whieh could be used for additional parking. City Manager was directed to check and determine the area, estimate cost of preparing same for parking areas, on motion of Councilman Granger, seconded by Councilman Stout, such figures to be made available for budget stu�y. COUiYCILi�liAN GRA�dGER DISCUSSED THE BUILDIIdG CODE and whether or not the Building �epartment was amply protected in cases where accidents such as recent truss failure. He sug- ,,,,,,,� gested that a committee be formulated consisting of the Cuilding �epartment, City � Attorney, two Councilmen and a representative of the Buildino Trades to continue studies of present codes and determine whether or not it was adequate as now written. Councilman Granger so moved, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried.
