Councilman Stout moved adoption of ordinance, seconded by Councilman Sgillers and ��) <br /> carried on roll call. <br /> COMNIUNICATIOId F'ROM W. VY. SPROUL regarding Tidegates, was read by Clerk pro-tempore. In his <br /> letter Mr. Sproul asked that tY�e Council sign a petition, which he submitted, asking <br /> Congresa for a �10��000 appropriation for a tide gate and pu�ing system et the mouth of <br /> Redwood Creek. Councilman Britschgi moved that the Council indorse Mr. Sproul�s letter, � <br /> � <br /> seconded by Councilman Stout. Councilman Granger asked that the petition be read and <br /> � <br /> after hearing the reading of the petition stated his sympathy with Mr. Sproul as an <br /> individual but not in his posit�ion as a Councilman. Iie atated further that he would <br /> �a <br /> indorse the petition as a priv�tte citizen, not in official capacity. Mr. Sproul stated <br /> '� that he wanted the unanimous indorsemsnt o1' t he Council or none at all. lti�ayor Herkner <br /> `� asked for restatement of motion. Councilman Britschgi stated that he moved indorsement <br /> of Mr. Sproul�s letter. Councilman Jones questioned if there �vould be a change in orme�- <br /> ship if the Federal Governm,ent gaee the City aid. City Attorney Currie advised that the <br /> only interest the Federal Governm�ent woul�i have �rould be nani�ation rights. Councilman <br /> Granger made an amendment to the motion vrhereby MayoF �erkner would appoint a citizens <br /> committee with .Mr. Sproul as chairman of Tide Gate Committee. Councilman Jones seconded <br /> the motion. 14tayor Herkner asked �Ir. Sproul if he rras in agreement with the amendment <br /> to the motion whereby he would be head of a committee to handle the tids gate situation. <br /> Councilman Royer maved that another amsndment be made to the amendment �rhereby Mr. Sproul <br /> further investigate the matter w ith the consent of the Council with no responsibility and <br /> liability on t he part of the City. Councilman Britschgi seconded the motion. On vote <br /> ,.�. of the second amendment it lost on roll call vote, Councilmen Britschgi, Granger, Jones <br /> � <br /> and Stout voting Na. The first amendment also loat on roll call vote with Councilmen <br /> Britschgi, Royer, Spillers, Stout and �Iayor Herkner voting N0. The original motion that <br /> the Council indorse Mr. Sproul�s letter carried on roll call n►ith Councilmen Granger and <br /> Royer voting N0. Mr. Sproul decided to wait another week. He was disappointed in the <br /> Council�s action. Mayor Herkner suggested that Mr. Sproul m�eet with the Flood Control <br /> Commi.ttee and they might come up with something that the Council would indorse. Coun- <br /> cilman Jcnes is chairman of the Flood Control Committee. <br /> SA'VIUEL SHANK, REPRESENTING ALBERT LESSEMAN, REGARDING VARIANCE IN DRI�AY APPROACH PROPERTY <br /> ON EL CAMINO REAL NORTH OF BRE�iTSTER AVENtJE. Nir. Shank spoke in regard to property on El <br /> Camino Real ingress and egress of traffic in driveway. After som�e discussion, it developed <br /> that the Traffic Fact Finding Committee has never discussed thia matter in a formal <br /> meeting. Councilman Stout moved that the matter be referred t o the proper authorities <br /> � � <br /> before being considered by the Council, seconded by Councilman Britachgi. Mr. Jain <br /> � <br /> atated that the reasson this problem �ras brought up was that the ordinanca covered narrov► <br /> lots and different types. of business. The property in question is on a very heavy traf- <br /> ficed highway and that is the reason why this is broug�t before the Council. Captain <br /> �' Faulstich reported that from a police angle the four driveways would be better for <br /> � traffic than t�ro driveways. Motion carried. This was placed on the B[a� 24th agenda. <br /> REAL ESTATE COMMITTEE�S REPORT ON TIiE PROPOSED HESS RO,AD EXTENSION. Councilman Ro�er reported <br /> that it was agreed that the City and Mr. �Viood would have appraisals ma.de and that another <br /> meeting would be had to determine if a satisfactory agreement could be made for t he mutual <br /> benefit of both parties. Councilman Royer so moved, seconded by Councilman Spillers. <br /> On question, Councilman Granger asked tha,t Git� Attorney Currie be allowed to choose the <br />
