Councilman Spiller$�.� <br /> asked City Engineer Jain to fia the street at the corner of Topa� Strset and Bre�rster <br /> Avenue. �dr. Jain reported that there was an undergraund sprin� there and that the <br /> Street Department �raa in the process of drying up the spring before putting in a culvert. <br /> City Engineer Jain to report back in one week. <br /> � Councilman Brftachgi asked about the .atreet condition on Edge�rood Road. He stated that <br /> E <br /> � there was a very bad strip whera the street had been dug up in putting in gas lines to <br /> Edge�vood Manor. He questioned the City Engineer as to whether or not the P.G. & E. , or <br /> whoever dug up the street, had been notified to fix up the street �here the ditch had <br /> settled. City Engineer Jain �ill check into the matter. <br /> � <br /> Councilman t�ranger rsported on his motion of last meeting on the appointing of a com- <br /> � mittee to check into the matter of the buildin� code and whether or not the Building <br /> Department was amply protected in casea of accidents. Mayor Herkner stated t hat he <br /> would diacuss the matter with the Council and appoint the com�nittee the next day. The <br /> follawing were appointed to the committee: Councilman Grangsr, chairman, Councilman <br /> Royer, Henry Tarratt, and Bud 5tevenson. ) <br /> Councilman Royer asked that the Cooper matter be placed on the agenda for the next <br /> meeting. This was in regard to a resubdivisian of Mr. Cooperts property. <br /> Councilrnan. Stout repor�ed that he noticed how me�n holes were sticking up in the streets. <br /> City Engineer Jain explained that the streets were in this eondition beeause the Street <br /> Department was still in the process of paving the streets. He further eaplained that <br /> aometi�s the m�nhole crew could �not always be fres to raise the manholes at the same <br /> "'"°'" time the streets were being paved, thus they had to co�e back later and raise the manholes. <br /> �. Plice Chief �ood reported on the �Firearms Pro�ram and stated that it was a success and <br /> that it had been done at the amount set by the Council. <br /> The Council and the Planning Commission will meet with the Emaral d Lake residents on <br /> Thursday night, June 3rd. Mr. Gene Tavineer of S & �f is to be notified of this meeting. <br /> Clerk pro-tempore mentioned the League of California Cities dinner meeting at Val's, <br /> Thursday night, May 20, 1954• Councilmen Spillers, S�out, Granger, and Mayor Herkner <br /> stated their intentions of attending the dinner meeting. <br /> Mayor Herkner suggested that the matter of temperature reading of Redwood City instead <br /> of San Mateo be b�►oadcasted on all news broadcasta over the radio. �e asked that the <br /> Chamber of Commerce check into the matter. <br /> REPORT ON BID OPENING3; TO INSTALL 1250 fest WATER DdAIN ON ROOSEVELT AVENtJE T� EL CAMINO <br /> �,,,,,,, REAL.
