MAYOR GRANGER APPOINTED A COMMITTEE CONSISTING OF COUNCILMAN JOIV�S, chairman, Councilman �� `� <br /> Royer and Citg At�orney Currie to contact Stecher Traung in an effort to ascertain their <br /> intentions of proceeding with their plans in Redwood City. Placed on agenda, February 15. <br /> MAYOR GRANGER DISCU3SED THE PRESENT STATUS OF THE CITY DUMPS and commented on the fact tha.t <br /> the present operator was considerably in arrears in payment of his rent. After consid- <br /> � <br /> erable discussion, City Engineer and City Manager were direct to check into the matter <br /> and report back ta the Council at the meeting of February lst. <br /> � <br /> COUNCILWOMAN TIATNEY REQUESTED THE COUNCIL LIBRARY COMMITTEE MEET VYITH THE LIBRARY BOARD �!'EM- <br /> BERS on Wednesday evening, January 20th, at 7;30 P.M. in the City Manager� s office. The <br /> Park and Recreation Comrnission will also have two of their members meet with this com- <br /> � mittee. <br /> "'�" COUNCILYlIOMAN TINNEY STATED THAT SHE HAD OBSERVED MOTORISTS MAKING nUn TURN3 AT THE JEFFERSON <br /> AVENUE MIDDLEFIELD ROAD INTERSECTION which was in her opinion a very dangerous practice. <br /> Councilwoman Tinney then moved that �he matter be referred to the Traffic Fact Findir�g <br /> Cor�ittee, Cit9 Attorney Currie to advise as to the legality of pZacing signs in the area, <br /> seaonded by Councilman Spillers and carried. � <br /> COUNCILMAN HERKNER COMMEN TED ON THE 3-WAY SZGNAL AT THE JEFFERSON AVENUE MIDDLEFIELD ROAD <br /> INTERSECTION, it being his opinion that the signals were very slow and had a tendency of <br /> piling up traffic at this point. Councilman Herkner moved that the Traffic F act Finding <br /> Co�nittee atudy this situation to see if any remedy could be arrived at to improve this <br /> situation, seconded by Council�oman Tinney and earrisd. <br /> COTJNCILMAN JONES STATED HE HAD BEEN REQUESTED BY THE MAIN STREET 1VlERCHANTS TO APPROVE A TEMP- <br /> ,.�- ORARY FOOT BRIDGE across the Creek in the Post Office �.rea. It was determined, however, <br /> ��„_� <br /> that there was no thoroughfare across the private property and there was no way that the <br /> City could proceed with this request. <br /> COUNCILMAN JONES ASKED WHETHER IT WOULD BE POSSIBLE TO AUTHORIZE 1f�R. ADAMSON Ta PROCEED WI'I�i <br /> PLANS AND SPECIFICATION "A'� and "B't to apeed up the work, if and when the bonds pass on <br /> the April ballo�. City Engineer J�in was of the opinion that these plana would be use- <br /> ful at any time and the City Manager advised that the cost of plans and specifications <br /> was included in the es�imated amount appearing in this yearts budget. Mr. Adamson has <br /> submitted a proposal to prepare this work for 4� of the total cost if both pro�ects "A" <br /> and "Bt� were done and �}-1/2� if prl�ect "A" only is done. City Manager Rolison stated <br /> he would like to discuss the matter further with Mr. Adamson. Councilman Jones moved <br /> that Mr. Adamson proceed with plans and specifications on Project nA'� at once. Agenda. <br /> CaUNCILI�6AAN JONES REPORTED THAT THE DOG COMMITTEE HAD NOT AS YET MET to consider the matter of <br /> � <br /> the Leash 4rdinance and asked that the ma.tter be held over to the meetin� of February 1st. <br /> �.:� <br /> Mr. James Gleeson advised that the Highlands Community Club expected to take action eaxly <br /> in February and to request the Council to pass an ordinance controlling the situation. <br /> City Manager Rolison called attention to the fact that the Pound situation was under the <br /> "� �urisdiction of the County and that if going into leash enforeement it might mean addi- <br /> � �� tional employees. Councilman Jones, ho�rever, was of t he opinion that in the event a <br /> leash ordinance was adopted, most citizens vnould observe the ordinance and keep their <br /> dogs on a leash. Councilman Spillers stated his opinion �hat t�ie present ordinance was <br /> sufficient if the same were enforced and stray dogs were picked up as authorized by �he <br /> present ordinance.
