104 <br /> Councilman Spillers moved that City Attorney prepare the necessary resolution for intro- <br /> duction at the July bth, 195!}. meeting, seconded by Councilman Britschgi. City Attorney <br /> Currie advised that resolution provided a thirty day period within which demolition <br /> could be started. At the end of the thirty day period in the absence of commencement <br /> of demaiition, City could take the necessary steps to raze building, and add the cost <br /> to tax bill. Motion carried. _ ..,� <br /> PORT PAYMENT OF �5,000.00 FROM CURRENT NET REVENIIES TO THE GENERAL FUND OF THE CITY was accept- � <br /> ed by Mayor Herkner from 1V�r. Frank De -Patta, Vice-President of the Port Com�nission, who <br /> explained that the Port Commissioners, in addition to paying off the bonded indebted- <br /> ness desired to present the check to the City which represented approximately lOf of the <br /> � <br /> net for the present fiscal ye ar. Mr. De Patta stated the Commissioners hoped to repeat <br /> � <br /> this gesture in the future even more substantially in order that the tax burden of the <br /> citizens might be alleviated to some extent. - Mayor Herkner expressed the thanks of all <br /> citizens for their cooperation and assistance, it being his opinion this was the firat <br /> instance when a port of' this nature has made any contributions to city go vernmen ts other <br /> than the possible payments toward bond redemptions. <br /> CITY ENGINEER REPORT ON PROPOSED IMPROVEMENT PINE STREET. � C�ty Engineer Jain stated he had <br /> conferred with Mr. Benten and discussed the problems involved. Mr. Benten a�reed that the <br /> program should be held over for another year, in the meanti me the dry well drainage sys- <br /> tem could be tried in an effort to dispose of excess water during the winter season. He <br /> will confer with the neighbors along the lines as noted above. Councilman Britsch�i mov- <br /> ed that the matter be dropped from the agenda until such ti me as the City Engineers bring <br /> up the sub3ect f'or further coneideration, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. � <br /> POLICE BUILDING COMMITTEE REPORT. Councilman Spillers reported on co mmittee meeting at which �+ <br /> committee failed to agree on whether or not the issue should be placed on the November <br /> Ballot. Council�nan Granger stated he would like further time to study this matter be- <br /> fore being in a position to state his opinion. Councilman Britschgi asked �►hether or <br /> not the committee had considered use of the Poole building in order that some of the <br /> congestion at the City Hall would be relieved. The committee asked that the sub�ect <br /> be taken up a� a study meeting within the next two weeks. <br /> CITY ENGINEER REPORT ON DRAINAGE CONDITIONS, WOODSIDE ROAD, HUDSON STREET, VERA AVENUE and <br /> EL CAMIi�10 REAL as requested by the Planning Commission. N1r. Jain is of the opinion <br /> that flood conditions in this area are no more acute than in other areas wit hin the <br /> City. Except for improvement of creek channels, there are no particular improvements <br /> to be ma.de in this area. Councilman Britschgi moved that the City Engineer' s letter � �, <br /> be referred to the Planning Commission, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br /> . ::� <br /> CITY ATTORNEY REPORT ON INDUSTRIAL TNAY. Meeting was held with City Engineer at v�hich time <br /> facts and figures were revie�red with the result that costs appeared to be excessive <br /> in several instances. The Cit�r Attorney called attention to one assessment totaling <br /> � <br /> �41,000 and others from �8,000 to � 30,000 per acre. Both the City Attorney and City <br /> �n�r <br /> Engineer thought the Council should be made aware of the problems before taking further <br /> action, and Mayor Herkner appointed Councilmen Royer and Britschgi to check and report <br /> back at the meeting of July 12th. <br /> LIABILITY AND FZRE INSURA��TCE AGREEMENT. Councilma.n Jones reported for the Insurance Cominittes. <br /> In view of the committee stud� and City Auditor recommendatio n, Councilman Jones moved <br /> that the offer of Hartford Insurance_ Company for one year policy to cover both Liability <br />
