Mr. <br /> Jain advised that there were still a few small items to be completed, however, his <br /> department was proceeding with the spread of the assessment and the completion of' the <br /> job did not delay continuation of the proceedings. Councilman Royer stated that in his <br /> opinion the public should be informed that the City was doing everything possible to <br /> expedite flood control calling attention to a form letter appearing in a recent edition <br /> of tbe local paper from Mr. Sproul. Councilman Jones stated he had discussed the matter <br /> with Mr. Sproul as of today and the gentlemen were apparently very well satisfied with <br /> the pro�ress being made. City Engineer Jain reported that he had cruised the area from <br /> 12:00 Midnight to 2:30 A.M. during the recent rain and found that the creeks were hand- <br /> ling the storm waters very satisfactorily, at no time being over 50� to 60� of capacity. <br /> Approximately �30,000 has been spent in cleaning and deepening channels which undoubt- <br /> edly were responsible f'or the satisfactory condition witnessed during the recent storm. <br /> � <br /> � <br /> He also reported that the State was installing a new culvert across Woodside Road at <br /> V�.lota wh.ich would take care of the draina�e at this point. <br /> FURTHER DISCUSSION OF LIGHT STANDARDS IN 7�iE VICINITY QF BREWSTER AVENUE AND ARCH STREET. <br /> Councilwoman Tinney reported she had contacted the Gerwins who were sti11 of the opin- ""'�# <br /> ion that until the City remaved old light standards and installs new ones they want the „�,.�i <br /> old standard replaced. In their opinion all ol� standards should be removed, or none. <br /> Councilwoman Tinney was of th.e opinion that the new standard was to have been erected <br /> in front of the Mehodist Church, ho�rever, City Engineer Jain advised that it had been <br /> installed in its present location in the interests of good lighting. After further <br /> discussion and City Engineer Jain� s advice that reinstallation of the old standard <br /> would cost approximately �200, Cour�cilman Spillers moved that City Engineer Jain <br /> , ,.�������. <br />
