i�.� <br /> APPLICATIONS FOR THREE RESTAURANTS: (1) GRILL ROOM, 738 HAMILTON STREET; (2) CHARLES PLACE, 728 <br /> WOODSIDE; (3) BROADWAY LUNCH, 2096 BROADWAY. Applications covered one new "reataurant, the <br /> Grill Room and two transfers. It appeared that the Grill Room at 738 Hamilton Street had <br /> been open for several days and had been operating without a permit. After discussion as <br /> to method of controlling restaurants before openin� for business, Councilman Spillers moved <br /> � <br /> approval of the three applications, seconded by Councilman Royer and carried. Councilman <br /> � Granger then moved that the Building Department be instructed to issue no furthe r building <br /> permits for restaurant buildings unless a preliminary approval has been secured. It dev- <br /> eloped that there is some confusion in this matter inasmuch as the two drive-in restaurants <br /> A now under construction were granted use permits by the Planning Commission who had approv- <br /> i�, ed the plans and the Health Department had also tentatively approved the layout. In the <br /> discussion that followed it wae decided that restaurant operatora should understand that <br /> it was illegal to open for business before the inspeetions were 'ma.de and business license <br /> issued after Council approval. Matter will be considered further at the ' study meeting <br /> of August 18th. <br /> RECO1t�E�tDATIONS AND SUGGE3TION3 OF COUNCILI�HEEN AND DEPARTMENT HEADS. <br /> Councilman Stout commented on the APPOINTMENT QUESTIONNAIRE copies of which had been handed to <br /> the Councilmen and requested some thought be given to � this matter at the Au�ust 18th <br /> meeting. � <br /> Councilman Stout complim�ented tha City Manager for his aetion in �VVRITING THE LETTER TO THE <br /> OFERATOR OF THE CITY DUMP. � <br /> ��� <br /> Councilman Jones spoke in regard to FALSE AR�EST INSURANCE. The rate for coverage from �5,000 <br /> to �50,000 has been reduced to ��}51.16. Councilman Jones moved appro val of policy which <br /> � � <br /> will include auxiliary police and also �Councilmen and officers of the City. Motion sec- <br /> onded by Councilman�Royer and carried. <br /> Councilmaxi Spillers was advised that TF3E BUILDINGS ON MAIN STR�T WERE IN 2HE PROCESS OF BEING <br /> DEMOLISHED. - <br /> Councilman Spillers requested informa.tion as to the PRESENT STATUS OF THE DAVIES BUII,DING ON <br /> JEFFERSON AVENUE. Building Inspector Kreis� advised that Daeies had been given a permit <br /> to tear down the building. <br /> Councilman Spillers requested information regarding the �RESENT STATUS QF THE BUILDING ON THE <br /> CORNER OF SPRUCE AND NIAIPT STREETS AT 5 POINTS. Building Inspector Kreiss requested some <br /> more time for t his pro�ect. <br /> Councilxnan Britschgi requested Building Inspeetor to CHECK INTO THE DELAPIDATED BU.ILDING ON <br /> � BAYSHORE AND V�HIPPLE and report the findinga at the meeting of August lbth. <br /> �"' COIINCILMAN SPILLERS WAS EXCIISED AND LEFT NIEETING AT 10:00 P.M. <br /> Mayor Herkner co�nented on the ADVERTISING ON AIITOS CONTRARY TC1 ORDINANCE. <br /> PLANNING CODIIlVIISSION RECO�NDATION - DENI.AL OF APPLICATION OF I. City Attorney advised <br /> that th�re was no action necess�ry inasmuch as there was no subdivision under consideration. <br /> Applicant is requesting an easement only.
