13
in having the opportunity of working with the City Council.
REPORT - WATER LINE, BAYSHORE BOULEVARD. Mayor Herkner stated the committee had not been able
to contact the partiea concerned as yet. Agenda August 30th.
REPORT - STREET LIGHT, EL CAMINO .REAL. City Manager submitted a written report, copy to each
Cou.ncilman covering studies by himself, City Engineer Jain and the P.G.&E. The latter re-
•• commended increasing all existing lights on E1 Camino Real to 10,000 lumens, and in addition,
twelve additional 10,000 lumen lights north of Whipple and five additional 10000 lumen
ligits on the west side of El C aino between Brewster and Whipple at a total increase in
coat per year of 3,180.60. It developed that. seven existing 2,500 lumen lights on El
Camino Real on the east side between Charter Street and Berkshire Avenue have been billed
.--
to the City and the Menlo Lighting District has not reimbursed t he City for this expense.
 .
County Engineer Grant will recornnend to the Board of Supervisors, that the City be reimbursed
for the sxpense of mainaining six of these lights, however, he feels that should the City
desire larer lamps installed, they should bear the additional cost of such installation.
Councilman Granger stated his opinion that the Council Lighting Committee should be called
in on this discussion. He stated that the budget contained funds nearly sufficient to
increase lighting on E1 Camino to 10,000 lumens throughout the entire city and the addition
of a small amount would take care of the expense for the ear. He stated further that
practically all cities on the peninsula used 10,000 lumen lamps or greater, and he favors
lighting up the city to compare favorably with other cities on the peninsula. Councilman
Granger approved of the report with the exception of the last paragraph in which 10,000ts
were recortunended for intersections and 6,OOO s for intermediate lightin. Matter was
finally referred to, the Council Street Lighting Comrnittee for further consideration and
' report at the August 23rd meeting.
REPORT ON CITY DUMP OPERATION.
