Check of tally sheet indicated <br /> � the following result: Yes and in favor of annexation 25; No and against annexation 12; <br /> �"" spoiled ballot l. Absentee ballots opened included 2 votes favorable to annexation making <br /> the final total YES 27, NO 12, Spoiled 1 -- total votes cast 40. <br /> INTRODUCTION OF ORDINANCE, HIGHLANDS TERRITORY N0. 2 ANNEXATION. Councilman Granger moved <br /> � introduction of ordinance declaring results of the election, seco�ded by Councilman Stout <br /> j� and carried. <br /> CONTINUATION HARDING AVENUE IMPROVEMENTS. City Engineer Jain reported the low bid of Douglass <br /> & Woodhouse had been checked and found correct. City Attorney Currie advised that the <br /> hearing should be completed before awarding the contract. Mr. C. J. Calabrese, I�11 Alameda <br /> de las Pulgas, appeared to represent a number of people in the audience objecting to being <br /> furthar assessed for improvements on Harding Avenue, as they have already been assessed <br /> for improvements on Alameda de las Pulgas and Upton Street.It was explained to them that <br /> they were now being assessed for their share of intersection and half of the side lines <br /> of corner lots only as is the practice in all assessmsnt �obs. The County Supervisors, <br /> by their resolution 8�.07, adopted June 15� 1954, granted their consent to the City to <br /> include this part of the unincorporated area in the project. Mr. Calabrese insisted <br /> that they had not been given the chance to protest at the Supervisors meeting as did <br /> � . <br /> Mr. T. E. Lebda, 1.�11 Upton Street and Mr. Harry D. Horst, 415 Upton Street. After the <br /> � <br /> City Attorney advised- that the Board of Supervisors had given their consent and could <br /> not revoke it at this time, Councilma.n Spillers moved close of the hearing and the over- <br /> ruling of all protests, seconded by Councilman Royer. City Attorneg advised further that <br /> - property owners would receive notice of a public hearing before the assesament was approved <br /> by the Council at which time the property owners would have the right to protest the spread <br /> of the assessment. Those pre�ent were informed that they could contact the En�ineers <br /> office and secure any inf'ormation desired. Motion carried. <br /> RESOLUTlON 1753 ORDERING WORK DONE ON AARDING AVENUE. Resolution was offered by Cou.ncilman <br /> Spillers vuho moved adoption, seconded by Councilman Jones and carried on roll call, <br /> Councilma.n Britschgi noted absent. <br /> RESOLUTION 175�. A�dARDING THE BID TO DOUGLASS AND 1'�OODHOUSE at the bid price of �6,026.90 was <br /> `� offered by Councilman Jones, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried on roll- call, <br /> �' Council Britschgi noted absent. <br /> CONNiITTEE REPORT: REAL ESTATE COMMITTEE REGARDING PROPOSED SALE OF LOTS 3 & 1.�., BLOCK 1, HOME- <br /> STEAD ADDITION. Councilman Royer reported that they had appraised the value of these lots <br /> �,... at �1,750.00. Councilman Royer then moved that the City Clerk be authorized to advertise <br /> �, these lots for sale providing an offer had been received prior to advertisement. The <br /> motion was seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br /> COMNIITTEE REPORT: REAL ��STATE COI��lI`VtITTEE REGARDING PROPOSED EXTENSION HESS ROAD.
