Wendling, City Engineer Glenn M. Jain and Aasistant Building Inspector <br /> B. C. Gyselbrecht. <br /> REPORT: PUBLIC ADDRESS SYSTEP�. CONTROLLED MIKESL Administrative Assistant Wendling reported on <br /> proposed improvement of the public address system. It was Mr. Catrell� s opinion that the <br /> most satisfactory improvement would be to replace present speakers with four 8" speakers <br /> flush to the ceiling and replace six microphones with sensative directional mikes. The <br /> cost of this installation would be approximately �600.00. Councilman Granger is still not <br /> satisfied with the proposed improvement as in his opinion the controlled mikes which could <br /> be turned on and off would be satisfactory methof of increasing availability of mikes. "'� <br /> Councilman Royer moved approval of report, Mr. Catrell to submit a bona-fide bid. Motion ,�„� <br /> seconded by Councilman Stout and carried, Councilman Granger voting N0. <br /> REPORT: PURCHASE FENCE MATERIALS FOR CITY DUMPS. City Engineer Jain advised that one truck load <br /> of twenty guage scrap sheet stell had been picked up and was now being worked over before <br /> installing for a windbreak on the City Dump f'enee as a trial. Approximately 360 feet of <br /> fencing would be covered by this metal in an effort to control co mbustible material from <br /> blowing across Harbor Boulevard. Councilman Stout reported that this material would be <br /> leas expensive than the usual cyclone fence and should the present experiment prove suc- <br /> cessful further experiments could be carried out and additional material could probably <br /> be secured. <br /> INTRODUCTION TAX RATE ORDINANCE, 1954'S5 FISCAL YEAR. City Attorney Currie read the prepared <br /> ordinance fixing the 195�-55 tax rate for Old Town, plus annexations consenting to full <br /> ,.,„,� <br /> taxation, at � 1.08 ranging downwards to �1.065 in other areas, <br /> . .:,. <br /> Councilman Britschgi moved to introduce ordinance, seconded by Councilm.an Spillers. <br /> Councilman Stout questioned whether or not there was sufficient funds to improve the <br /> Library li�hts and was informed by the City �Zanager that in his opinion there was sufficient <br /> funds in the budget to carry out this program. Motion carried. ,.�.,, <br /> RESTAURANT APPLICATIONS: <br /> �;.� <br /> (A) H. GAMBERS, 3070 BAYSHORE. New <br /> The premises have been �iven the necessary inspections. Councilman Britschgi <br /> moved approval, seconded by Councilman Royer and carrisd. <br /> (B) RUSTY�S DRIVE IN, 670 EL CAMINO REAL. New <br /> . This new drive-in has been inspected by the Health, Fire, Police and Building <br /> Inspector. Covncilman Spillers moved approval, seconded by Councilman Stout. <br /> Councilman Granger stated his dissatisfaction with the conditions of the trees <br /> one of which had apparently been trimaned back ex_cessively.
