Councilman Jones moved approval, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br /> TRAFFIC FACT FINDING COMMIT TEE RECONIIVIENDED STOP SIGNS ON GRAND STREET AT JAMES AVENUE and on <br /> IRIS STREET AT JAIV�S AVENUE. Councilman Spillers moved approval of the recommendation, <br /> seconded by Councilman Harkner. Councilwoman Tinney repeated the queation regarding <br /> �,...,, other streets intersecting James Avenue and Captain Faulstich stated they had studied <br /> the entire matter and were of' the opinion that the traffic on James Avenue was heavy as <br /> � M <br /> far as Hudson Street. It was here that heavy traffic on Hudson Street was forcing vehi- <br /> cles to use Grand and Iris Streets increasin� accident rate at both of these intersections. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> � <br /> TRAFFIC FACT FINDING COMMITTEE'S RECOMMENDATIDN REGARDING SIGNALS AT JEFFERSON AVENUE AND <br /> �"' MIDDLEFIELD ROAD. After thorough study of' conditions at this intersection, the committee <br /> did not recommend any change either in timing or operation of the signal as in their <br /> opinion the present plan eliminates conflict between left turning vehicles and possibility <br /> of any serious tie-up of traffice and the possibility of trapping a vehicle on the rail- <br /> road dur3.ng peak hours. Councilman Spillers moved acceptance of the recommendation, <br /> seconded by Councilman Britschgi. It was noted that more people could make right turns <br /> after comin� to a stop than are at present doing so, ho�rever, it was decided that this <br /> was a matter of education and perhaps a larger sign could be erected. Motion carried. <br /> BIDS ON AUTOMOBILE FOR RECREATIQN DEPARTMENT. The following bids were received: <br /> Towne Motor Company Ford 6 � 1,502.57 net cost. <br /> Davies Auto Company Chevrolet 1,545•85 " " <br /> Ferris Miles, Inc. Plymouth 1,695•55 n n <br /> �` � Councilman Britschgi moved acceptance oi' low bid of Towne �otor Company at � 1,502.57 to <br /> �,, f replace Car No. 21, seconded by Councilwoman Tinney and carried. <br /> CLERK DODGE CALLED ATTENTI4N TO LEAGUE OF CALIFQRNIA DINNER MEETING THURSDAY. Several Coun- <br /> cilmembers indicated their intention to attend. <br /> CITY MANAGER ROLISON REPORTED THAT HE HAD UfiRITTEN gIE SAN FRANCISCO WATER COMPANY REGARDING <br /> the sug�estion of Mr. C. C. Ashley relative to his suggestion regarding emergency meas- <br /> ures to insure �ater supply. The reply had been received and a copy had been mailed to <br /> Mr. Ashley. <br /> CITY MANAGER ROL1SaN STATED T'tiAT BIDS HAD BEEN RECEIVED FQR FENCING THE BRIDGE RAILS QN <br /> iVIARYLAND S�'REET amounting to �?4.00. Councilman Spillers moved approval, seconded by <br /> Councilman Herkner and carried. Councilman �Royer then called attention to the action <br /> taken two weeks ago in approving �54.88 expenditure covering protection on the Maddux <br /> „^,� <br /> bridge. City En�ineer Jain developed the fact that a portion of this property �ras not <br /> City property, however, Councilman Royer was still of' the opinion that the City should <br /> �. . <br /> pay the entire expense of installing a fence facin� the bridge bars. Councilman Royer <br /> then moved that the City pay the �5�..88 charge to complete the portion facing the bars, <br /> seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br /> �,.,.., <br /> CITY ATTORNEY CURRIE STATED THAT THE LE VEAU AGREEMENT WAS READY FOR SIGNING regarding the <br /> '� ' retaining wall and requested that a resolution authorizing the si�ning be adopted. <br /> Councilman Herkner offered RESOLUTION No. 1633 AUTHORIZING SIGNING OF AGREEMENT BETWEEN <br /> THE LE VEAUS AND THE CITY OF REDWOOD CI'I'Y regarding retaining wall and moved adoption, <br /> seconded by Councilman Britschgi a nd carried unanimously on roll call. <br /> COUNCILMAN HERKNER COTVIIV�NTED ON THE ARTICLE IN THE HIGHLANDS CO1�:MMiTNITY CLUB BULLETIN commend- <br /> in� the members of the City Council for the fine �ob thay are doing and stated further <br />
