Council- <br /> man Spillers reported tha� there is a service road shown on the State plans coverin� this <br /> area. Motion earried on roll call, Councilma.n Gran�er note� absent. Councilman Spillers <br /> moved that the Clerk be directed to_ write a letter to the County Clerk asking the�r coopera- <br /> tion in asking for a service road on the east side of the freeway from Second Avenue t o � <br /> Marsh Road, seconded by Councilman Jones and carried. <br /> �rr <br /> RECONIlVlENDATIONS AND SIIGGESTIONS: COUNCILMEN AND DEPARTMENT HEADS. <br /> COUNCILMAN JONES REPORTED THAT HE HAD CONTACTED THE HOSPITAL IN REGARD TO QNE WAY ROAp INTO <br /> HOSPITAL GROUNDS and asked that there be a delay in installing flashing lights until after <br /> the Hos ital Board meetin . Ca tain Faulstich stated that he would � <br /> p g p go along with Council- <br /> man Jones recoimnendation and stated that the Traffic Fact Finding Committee is of the opin- `� <br /> ion that the flasher light is a warning only and would not solve the problem. Councilman <br /> Jones moved that the City delay in putting in the installation of the flasher light, sacond- <br /> ed by Councilman Stout and carried. <br /> COUNCILNIAN SPILLERS REPORTED THAT HE HA,D RECEIVED SEVERAL CALLS IN REGARD TO THE TRAF'FIC PROBLEM <br /> ON BREWSTER AVENUE betv�een Elwood and Birch Streets caused by the atudents of Sequoia High <br /> .School. The students are parking in f'ront of the homes and he asked that this be turned over <br /> to the Traffic Fact Finding Committee for their opinion regarding two hour parking on Birch <br /> Street. Mrs. True Holeman, 1436 Brewster Avenue, stated th.at she had talked to a new man at <br /> the High School and asked why the students were allowed to park from 8:30 in the mQrning until <br /> �.}:30 at night when the �reater majority are parked in the school yard. There were forty-one <br /> parking spaces in the school parking yard. She would like to have the Council relieve them �* <br /> of the problem. Councilman Britschgi stated that he had noticed the vacant parkin� spaces �v�, <br /> in the school yard and all the cars parked on the street. Councilman Royer wondered if the <br /> people in the area really wanted the two hour parking, Captain Faulstich stated that with <br /> two hour parking you only forced the cars to move to another place and you would have the <br /> same problem all over again. He stated that this was a achool problem. Tom Jensen, 177 <br /> Elwood Street, sug�ested th�.t the Police Department change their shifts because their change <br /> came at the same time that the school let out and t�ere were no officers around to control <br /> the traffic. <br /> COUNC,ILMAN GRANGER APPEARED �.T 8:50 P.M. <br /> Captain Faulstich stated that plans have been submitted to the High School to provide more <br /> parking for the students. They have made arrangements to have the students police the area <br /> but this did not last very long. He claimed that this was still a problem for the School and <br /> � <br /> the speeding a problem of the Police Department. Councilman Spillers moved, seconded by <br /> ,� <br /> Councilman Royer, that this matter be referred to the Traffic Fact Finding Comtnittee for <br /> cansideration of two hour parking and to bring in their report next week. Motion carried. <br /> A�enda September 27th. <br /> � <br /> COUNCILMAN SPILLERS REPORTED THAT THERE WERE CONSIDERABLE EMPLOYEES WORKING FOR THE CITY �fIHO HAD <br /> THIRTY YEARS SERVICE and he thought somsthing should be done about securing pins for every �`�'"` <br /> employee with five years service, ten years, fifteen years, etc. Councilman Spillers moved <br /> to carry this matter on the agenda for next week, City Manager to bring in a report at the <br /> next meeting. In the absence of City Mana�er, the acting City Manager �rill bring in the re- <br /> port. Motion seconded b� Councilman Royer and carried. <br />
