i �� <br /> COUNCILMAN BRITSCHGI REPORTED THAT THE JUNIOR CHAMBER OF COiUIlVlERCE IS IN THE PROCESS OF 1�i0RKING <br /> OUT CITY BEAUTIFICATION WEEK and at the same time they are making plans for ARBOR DAY NEXT <br /> YEAR. �hey want to make plans for the care of 2000 to 3000 trees until next year. They <br /> would make arrangements for the trees and the Park Department could take care of the trees <br /> until Arbor Day. They asked that the Council allow the Park Departmsnt to take c�re� of the <br /> �"" trees. Councilma.n Britschgi moved that permission be granted, seconded b� Councilman Royer. <br /> �+ Mr. Thomas Jensen, 1?7 Elwood Street, stated that the Park Department should take care of <br /> the trees that the City nov� haa before they undertake care of new trees. He stated that all <br /> the treea on Elwood Street should be topped. Mayor Herkner asked that the matter be turned <br /> ,,.,..., over to the Park Department. Councilma.n Spillers wanted Mr. Jensen to know that the Park <br /> � Department was doing a wonderful �ob in the care of the City. Motion carried. <br /> MISS DOROTHY ROBERTSt STARS OF TOMQRROW PRESENTED TO MRS. LOUISE TORNELL, Representative of the <br /> Park and Recreation Corrnnission, TWO TROPHIES WHICH THEY HAD WON IN RECENT �ARAD�S. They won <br /> first place in the San Franciseo night parade which was quite an honor and they also xon <br /> first place for the best marching unit in the Napa parade. On October 9th they are going <br /> out for the field event which is the start for the California State Championship. <br /> COUNCILN�AN STOIIT REPORTED THAT HE HAD BEEN COfiTTACTED BY SOME PEOPLE IN THE VICINITY OF GLENWOOD <br /> AVENUE AND CANYON ROAD IN REGARD TO STREET IMPROVEMENTS. The following report was submitted by Stanley <br /> � <br /> A. Cottrell: <br /> The abone agreed to supply equipment and material and connect same to the <br /> existing amplifier. New wiring is to be done by City employees under super- <br /> vision of the contractor. The contractor will make final connections and <br /> tests. The existing amplifier is to be reconditioned at a cost not to <br /> exceed �25.00 which will be an extra char�e when determined. One exist- <br /> ing three channel mixer will be exchanged for a four channel mixer. All <br /> the above work to be completed for the sum of 28.20. - <br /> Councilman Granger raised the question of the original estimate they had received. TYie <br /> Clerk explained that the original cost was �313.00 including labor, switches �98.00, addi- <br /> tional �25.00 for cleaning amplifier and an additional �92.00 f'or piugs hiding the wires. <br /> Councilman Britsch�i moved authorization to accept the report, seconded by Councilman Spill- <br /> ers who added that they accept the proposal and install the new system. City Attorney stated that there were a number of unaswered questions in regard <br /> �,r to Industrial Way. If the questions could be answered it would help in the procedure to <br /> follow. Councilma.n Royer moved that this matter be taken up at the study <br /> � meetin� of September 22nd and placed on the agenda for next week, seconded by Councilman <br /> � Spillers and carried. � <br /> OFF STREET PARKING. Mayor Herkner asked the City Attorney fbr a report. The City Attorney stated <br /> that he thought this was a Council matter. Ma,gor Herkner stated that this meeting was to <br /> start proposition No. 1. City Attorney stated that the first step was that the plans and <br /> specifications should be started. Councilman Stout moved that the City Engineer- prepare <br /> pl�ns and specifications for priority 3ob number 1 behind City Hall, seconded by Councilma.n <br />
