Ma.yor Herkner reported on proposed service pin, <br /> sketch of which was shown on the council. Proposal was to present pin to employee on <br /> his lOth anniversary, and every 5 years thereafter a ruby would be added with a ma.xi- <br /> mum of 20 years. On the occasion of his 35th anniversary, a diamond would be added. <br /> It was also reco�nended that a suitable framed certificate be �iven to all empl.oyees ,,,,,,� <br /> at the time of retirement. Councilman Jones suggested the diamond be added at the <br /> ..r <br /> time of retirement and after discussion it was decided to present pin at retirement <br /> or with 35 years service whichever is nearest. Councilman Royer moved approval, sec- <br /> onded by Councilman Spillers. Mrs. Rheinhard questioned the wisdom of this innovation, <br /> "'� <br /> however, it developed that the employees had requested some time ago that the Council <br /> consider the plan. I�otion carried. <br /> � <br /> REPORT ON CENSUS TRACT MEETING WITH COUNTY SUPERVISORS. City Attorney Currie attended the <br /> meeting along with Councilman Royer. The meeting was well attended and the unanimous <br /> approval was obtained. Program of carrying out the work of dividing the county into <br /> certain specific areas, such as business, industrial, etc. , and the gathering of infor- <br /> mation from year to y�ear for comparative purposes is to be carried an with volunteer <br /> help. The cities will be asked to cooperate in securing volunteer help, but will not <br /> be called upon for any of the expense. Mr. Currie recommended waiting for additional <br /> informa.tion and informative material. Mrs. Vera Eskin commented on the proposed program <br /> which she thought �could be very valuable to the city. � <br /> CI TY ENGINEER REPORT ON SIDEWALK CONDITION TERRACE SHOPPING CENTER. Complaints are being <br /> received regarding the hazardous conditions of the sidewalks. Several letters have """�' <br /> been written to the Land Development and Investment Company requesting correction of �r <br /> these conditions but to date no reply has been received. It is the City Engineeris <br /> recommendation that he be authorized to send a legal notice ordering work done in t he <br /> same manner as is done throughout the City in order to relieve the City of liability <br /> and probable damage claims. Action has been withheld pending outcome of' the suit by <br /> the Land Development Company and L. C. Smith, the contractor. Councilman Jones sug- <br /> �ested notifying bonding company, however, it was decided that Cit� Engineer contact <br /> the people on a friendly basis in an attempt to rxork out a solution. Councilman <br /> Granger so moved, secanded by Councilman Spillers. Councilm�an Granger added that <br /> in his opinon steps must be taken to protect the Ci�Gy and if a decision could not <br /> be reached it might be necessary to institute a friendlg suit. Motion carried. <br /> INTRODUCTI�N OF ORDINANCE APPROVING 1952 UNIFORM BUILDING CODE. Ordinance ,has been prepared ,,,� <br /> adopting the 1952 code together with new sections such as quonset huts, removal of debris <br /> �m� <br /> and repair of broken sidewalks, blind wall construction, etc. Councilman Granger moved <br /> introduction of ordinance, seconded by Councilman Stout and carried. <br /> RESOLUTION 1770 ORDERING WITHDRA9fiAL HARCROSS ROAD TERRITORY FROM WOODSIDE FIRE DISTRICT. <br /> � <br /> Councilman Royer offered RESOLUTION 1770 .and moved adoption, seconded by Councilman <br /> Spillers. Under the question Councilman Britschgi questioned whether or not people y� <br /> in annexed areas were aware that they would be liable for existing fire district bonds. <br /> It was decided that hereafter people requesting annexation should be fully informed <br /> in this matter. Resolution carried on roll call. <br /> FURTHER DISCUSSION INDUSTRIAL WAY.
