Staut. <br /> REPORT OF COUNCILMAN HER�£NER REGARDING STATUS OF CITY DUMP CONTRACT. Committee met, con- j <br /> sisting of City Engineer, City Manager, City Collector and Councilman Herkner, and <br /> discussed the status of the present contract with Nir. Romeo Joly. After a discussion <br /> Dllrr. Joly has agreed to pay �150 now, �75 February 20th and the remaining amount due, <br /> namely, �750 on June 15th. The Coimnittee recommended that the present contract ex- <br /> "� <br /> piring March 6, 1954 be renewed and the payments reduced to �37.50 per month. Council- <br /> � <br /> man Royer moved acceptance of t he report and the recommendation, seconded by Council- <br /> man Jones and carried. <br /> REPORT FROM COUNCILWOMAN TINNEY REGARDIN� THE PROPOSED BRANCH LIBRARSES. Couneilwoman <br /> Tinney reported th at her Committee had met with the Library Board and representatives � <br /> � <br /> of the Park and Recreation Commiasion. Mrs. Ashwell was present representing the � <br /> , <br /> P.T.A. tS, unofficially. The Committee reviewed the Master Plan including drawings of <br /> the proposed branch library in Stafford Park, also the October 19�6 minutes of the Park <br /> and Recreation Commission at which time estimates were reviewed. After much discussion <br /> the concensus of opinion was that two buildings be recommended, one a complete unit in <br /> Staf'ford Park and the other in Community Park, so built that it could be enlarged to <br /> meet other needs. Councilman Herkner moved that the report of this Committee be ac- <br /> cepted, seconded by Councilman Spillers. It was understood that acce�tance of this <br /> report did not indicate immediate construction of the branch libraries under consider- <br /> ation but would allow further consideration and study on the part of the Council to <br /> cover future program, Mayor Granger suggested that the situation be looked into in <br /> other localities in an effort to decide whether or not our program of building was not ,�s� <br /> too ambitious. Motion carried. � <br /> REPORT OF REAL ESTATE COMA�ITTTEE REGARDING PROPOSED PURCHASE OR EXCHANGE OF PROPERTY AT <br /> 1823 Roosevelt Avenue. Councilman Herkner reported that' the Committee had met with <br /> Mrs. 1�cCanless, owner of the property in question, who had agreed to accept the sum of <br /> �3,000, The opinion of the Committee was that the value should be about �2500. Af ter <br /> discussion, Councilman Royer moved that the City proceed to purchase the property based <br /> upon the City Engineer� s racommendation and requirement, it being appa�ent that this <br /> prgperty was necessary to afford access to the creek and Jefferson Avenue b�idge. <br /> Councilman Jones seconded the motion. In answer to Councilman Britschgi� s inquiry as <br /> to the City� s legal right to purchase this property without advertising for bids , City <br /> Attorne9 advised th at in this situation where there was no other property involved the <br /> City could purchase without advertising. Motion carried. <br /> � <br /> YACH T HARBOR COMMITTEE REPORT. City Attorney Currie advised that he had received a letter <br /> � <br /> from the Leslie Salt Company enclosing a proposed form of deed �rhich the salt company <br /> would execute after receiving the sum of �500. The deed was subject to Leslie Salt <br /> Company retaining gas, oil and mineral rights, the City�s liability to construct levy <br /> within two years. Should the City f ail to use the property two consecutive years - � <br /> title �ould revert to Leslie Salt Company and the purchase price would be returned. *� <br /> Councilman Britschgi moved that the deed be turned over to the Council Yacht Harbor <br /> Comtnittee for their recorarnendation, seconded by Councilman Roy�r. It appeared that <br /> the City would underwrite no great liability upon accepting the deed in view of the <br /> above conditions. Motion carried. <br /> COUNCTLMAN ROYER STATED THAT THE FIRST NOTICE OF ANY ACTIVITY �N THE PART OF STECHER•-TRAUNG <br /> LITHOGRAPH COMPANY was a notice to the Chamber of Commeree dated January 4th stating <br />
