Brophy, Engineer Associate Arthur Eskelin, and Park and Recreation Com- <br /> missianer Irving Gold. <br /> PUBLIC HEARINGS: APPEALING PLANNING COMMISSION GRANTING USE PERMIT FOR GASOLINE SERVICE. <br /> STATION ON CORNER MIDDLEFIELD ROAD AND JEFFERSON AVENUE. Notice of Public Hearing was mai�.ed <br /> to 29 property owners within 300 foot radius. Mr. Max Thorton, 157 Opal Street, appeared <br /> representing the owners of the property involved. Mr. Thorton advised that the church <br /> property was sold contin�ent on the use permit to allow a gasoline service station on the ,,,� <br /> corner. There were no protestants at the Planning Commission meeting and the use permit <br /> � � ,,� <br /> was granted subject to driveway approaches acceptable to the engineering department. Sub- <br /> sequent to the granting of the permit the church people have sold the furnishings and pews <br /> and it would be difficult to dispose of the property if not used for service atation. There is an option with a Mr. Weston contingent upon the service station per- <br /> mit. A letter was read by the Clerk which stated the protest of Mr. G. L. Dinwiddie, <br /> owner of property on Jefferson Avenue, stating that erection of a service station on the <br /> corner of Je�'ferson and Middlefield Road avould cause traffic hazards and would not benefit <br /> the Civic Center.
