''"
COUNCILMAN ROYER BROUGHT UP THE MATTER OF THE CARLETON TRACT THROUGH WHICH fiE CITY WAS TO AC-
QUIRE AN EASEMENT FOR DRAINAGE PURPOSES. City Engineer Jain expressed his opinion that
underground drainae should be installed. Councilman Granger was of the opinion that people living in the area of
Kentfield and Palm would be willing to pay for the installation of full improvaments, how-
eer, Mr. Jain stated that one or two streets improved would not relieve the trouble but
that the entire area should be improved and drained at the sams time. Councilraan Granger
was of the opinion that the people in the area should be advised of the Council s think-
in and that they should be advised that partial improvements would not be feasible, He
suggested the possibility of securing more signatures through-out the area. City Attor-
ney advised that a 1}/5 vote of the Council could over-rule the protests and order the w ork

done. Councilman Granger then moved that the original petition be located and that explan-

ation be furnished as to what is necessarg to improve this area, motion seconded by Coun-
cilman Stout and carried. Discussion followed rearding purchase of easement by the city,
open drainage ditch or installation of drainage pipe, etc. Councilman Britschgi suggested
that the City Attorney take the necessary steps to acquire the easement. City Attorney will
contact the owner and will report back at the meeting of November 29th.
COUNCILMAN STOUT HAS IPiVESTIGATED THE POSSIBILITY OF PROVIDIAiG BENCHES IN CERTAIN AREAS IN THE
CITY calling attention to a bench which has been constructed by the Count9 with concrete
ends and wooden backs and seats.
