Brophy� Fire Chief Joseph Lodi , Assistant Water Superintendent <br /> Richard Seemel� Police Captain William Faulstich� City Engineer Glenn M. Jain, City <br /> Attorney C . B. Currie and Administrative Assistant Orrin Wendling. <br /> MINUTES OF JAN'UARY 18th and 25th, 1954� were approved on motion of Councilwoman Tinney and <br /> ,,,�., . <br /> seconded by Councilman Jones . Council.man Royer suggested change in minures of January <br /> �,., <br /> 25th to indicate item 12 covering proposed exchange of property with School District <br /> read in part as follows: "The relationship between the City and School District was <br /> such that the City could at a later date secure other propert,y for exchange with certain <br /> property in the Hoover School Area, by purchase or otherwise and thus retain the lighted <br /> area known as Hawes Park No. 1" . Motion carried. <br /> PUBLIC HEARING ON TOPAZ STREET IMFROVENIENTS . Mayor Granger announced time for pu�lic hearing <br /> and City Clerk was directed to file affidavit of posting, mailing and publication. Mr. <br /> Earl Boison and Mr. E. Bottino appeared before the Council and commented on the Utility <br /> poles �laced inside sidewalk area. City Engineer Jain advised that there was no parking <br /> strip available and that the poles had been set before the sidewalks were laid . He <br /> advised further that the Utilities Company would not have sufficient rights-of-way to <br /> '� locate poles inside the property line. The above gentlemen were advised that there was <br /> � no liability on their part because of the location of the poles inasmuch as the property <br /> owner had no control whatsoever in the location and placement of these poles. Both of <br /> the above mentioned gentlemen stated that there were offering no protests to the <br /> improvements. There being no protests , written or oral, Councilwoman Tinney moved <br /> closing of public hearing , seconded b�j Councilman Royer and carried. Councilman Jones <br /> then offered RESOLUTION No. 163'7 approving assessment and assessment diagram and moved <br /> adoption, seconded by Councilwoman Tinney and carried on roll call. Councilman Spillers <br /> noted absent. <br /> ADOPTION OF' TRAFFIC ORDINANCE. Affidavit of publication was ordered filed. There being no <br /> protests, oral or written, public hearing was closed on motion of Councilman Britschgi, <br /> seconded by Councilman Royer and carried. Councilman Herkner then moved ADOPTION OF <br /> .. ., THE TRAFFIC ORDINANCE No. '758 , seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried on roll call. <br /> �. , <br /> Councilman Spillers noted absent. � <br /> RESOLUTION OF INTENTION TO ANNEX HARCROSS ROAD TERRITORY. Affidavit of publication was <br /> ordered filed. There were no protests , written or oral, and Councilman Jones moved the <br /> hearing be closed� seconded by Councilman Herkner and carried. Councilman Britschgi <br /> � <br /> then moved introduction of Ordinance� seconded by Councilman Jones and carried. <br /> �.:y <br /> LETTERS WERE RECEIVED from the Brotherhood of Painters� Decorators and Paperhangersof America <br /> and the Building and Construction Trades Council of San Mateo County protesting the <br /> painting of electroliers by members of the Street Department. I�;r. Stephen Serfozo� <br /> business agent of the Painters Union No. 1146, addressed the Council calling attention <br /> to the fact that painters were out of work this season of the year and stating that in <br /> his opinion the Unions could do the work better and cheax;er than could be done by City <br /> . ....,���,.�. , : .. . ,_. . , . _ �. <br />
