J� then moved that the committee report be accepted and the firm of C. G. Uhlenberg be <br /> employed for the 1954-55 audit at the price mentioned in their offer, the cormnittee <br /> to continue to study the matter for future determination. In order to clarify the <br /> sub�ect matter, motion was restated and offered in t�o parts. The first motion was <br /> made by Councilman Britschgi as follows: Committee report be accepted and t he firm <br /> of C. G. Uhlenberg undertake the audit for the 1954-55 fiscal year. Motion seconded <br /> ""*1 <br /> by Councilman Stout and carried. Councilman Britschgi then moved that the question of <br /> further study be undertaken by the new auditing committee, seconded by Councilman `� <br /> Royer and carried. Councilman Spillers voting No. Mayor Herkne� then added the name <br /> of Councilman Britsehgi to the committee. <br /> REPORT BY CITY ENGIlVEER ON PROPOSED CUT-BACK CURB RETURN QN WHIPPLE AVENUE AND EL CAAKINO ""'� <br /> REAL. City Engineer Jain reported that the Traffic Study Co�nittee had investigated ,,,� <br /> this matter in the field and it was their unanimous opinion that the cost of moving <br /> power poles, traffic signals, curb and side�ralk would probably not be �ustified unless <br /> the entire corner was entirel9 cut off and V�hipple Avenue extended across the Fox <br /> Shoppe parking lot with proper traffic channelization structures. This would conform <br /> to the plan lines established in 19L}8 and would require the purchase of moat of the <br /> parking lot area. Councilman Britschgi was of the opinion that this should be the <br /> first �ob of the Real Estate Comtnittee to lay the �round work for the possible purchase <br /> or awitch of property near the parking lot. In answer to Councilman Stoutts question <br /> regardin� the freeway and the possibility of Hopkins Avenue as an outlet, it develvped <br /> that there was no further information available at this time. Councilman Granger <br /> suggested the State be contacted to ascertain �►hether or not they were interested. <br /> � <br /> Gouncilman Britschgi then moved that the matter be turned over to the Real Estate ' <br /> � <br /> Committee for further study, seconded b y Councilman Stout and carried. <br /> AUTHORITY TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS, OUTSIDE EQUIPMENT TO YfiORK ON WEED ABATETJIENT PROGRAM. City <br /> Manager Rolison in response to recommendation of Fire Chief Lodi requested permi.asion <br /> to advertise for bids for extra equipment, the work done to be chargeable to weed <br /> abatement. Councilman Stout moved approval and there being no second, the matter was <br /> turned over to the Vlfeed Abatement Committee for a report and recommendation at the <br /> meeting of May 3rd. <br /> PROPOSED ADOPTION ON FIRE PREVENTION CODE. Fire Chief Lodi recommends the adoption of 1953 <br /> National Board of F ire Underwriters Prevention Code which in his opinion is basically <br /> a good code. The addition of this code will allow his department to improve the fire <br /> prevention program and at the same time �rill help eliminate some of the deficiency <br /> .�-.� <br /> points on the next survey. Chief Lodi stated flarther that possibly some amendments <br /> would be desired to fit the code to our own peculiar conditions. City Attorney Currie `"'� <br /> stated that an ordinance has been prepared which was approved by the Attorney General <br /> and was ready for introduction. Councilman Royer moved introduction of ordinance, <br /> seconded by Councilman Spillers. Chief Lodi stated t hat the Fire Prevention Code was """ <br /> related to the Building Code but was separate, such code of necessity would be : � <br /> adopted separately. There is no contradiction in either code. Motion carried. <br /> AUTHQRIZE CITY CLERK TO ACCEPT DEED TO SURFACE RIGHTS OF HETCHE-HETCHY BETWEEN ROOSEVELT <br /> AVENUE AND CARSON STREET. Councilman Granger moved the Clerk be authorized to accept <br /> deed, seconded b y Councilman Britschgi. The deed in question transfers surface rig�its <br /> to Hetch-Hetchy right-oP-way for the entire block between Roosevelt Avenue and Carson <br /> Street which results in the City maintaing 1100 feet in addition to the 300 faet which <br />
