It is currently being used four days a week,
temporarily, by a church group. Mr. Anagnostou said his goal is to open the building
up to live performances, and to provide space for meetings, dances, plays and other
live events. He said the capacity is 955 people. Mr. Anagnostou has owned the
Foresters Hall for two years and in that time there have been over 28,000 people who
have attended events at that facility. He added that he has not spent a dime on
advertising, which reinforces the fact that there is a large demand for these types of
facilities. Mr. Anagnostou said he was planning a major extravaganza to celebrate the
rebirth of the Alhambra, which is 101 years old this year.
Councilman Ruskin said restoration and beautification of Main Street was going to
happen like this, one great project at a time, and thanked Mr. Anagnostou for caring
so much and for doing such a great job.
Mr. Anagnostou thanked Council for supporting his efforts in restoring the building
to now be known as the Alhambra of Redwood City, and thanked Charles Jany and
Ken Rolandelli, "who are incredible people" who helped him accomplish this project.
Mayor Hartnett thanked Mr. Anagnostou for his "investment of time, money, effort
and care in the quality of downtown and all of Redwood City. You have already
made a big difference."
MIS: RUSKINIHOW ARD.
