Vice Mayor Howard reported on the City sponsored clean-up along Rolison Road also <br /> held Saturday, October 25. She said there about 200 people who participated. She <br /> thanked MidPoint Technology for allowing the use of its parking lot as a central location <br /> and for providing the wonderful pastry and coffee that greeted everyone when they came <br /> to sign in. She also thanked Gino Gasparini of BFI for supplying port-a-potties, debris <br /> boxes and trucks, and for working from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. in this clean-up effort. Vice <br /> Mayor Howard thanked City staff, Mike Gibbons, Gordon Mann, Pat Valentine and others, <br /> and particularly City Manager Everett who got two huge blisters on his hands from using a <br /> sickle all day. She also thanked members of the audience who live in the area and joined <br /> the effort, Bonnie Miller, Diane Johnson, Ed Bailey. and also Don Saye. Vice Mayor <br /> Howard said the majority of people who participated were the families who live in the <br /> Rolison Road area, including a lot ofteen-agers. She said when the project was over, "you <br /> could really see the difference. It looked clean, it looked friendly, it looked like a real <br /> good neighborhood. We hope it stays that way." She thanked the neighborhood because <br /> they made a real difference that day. <br /> C. Mayor Hartnett reported on the Unsung Heroes celebration luncheon on Sunday, October <br /> - 26, 1997 at the Elks Club sponsored by the Interservice Coordinating Council. He said it <br /> is a tremendous annual event in Redwood City where members of service organizations <br /> are recognized for their unpublicized, but extremely valuable contributions to the <br /> community. Mayor Hartnett said he was able to participate along with Supervisor Mary <br /> Griffin and a representative from Congresswoman Anna Eshoo's office in presenting <br /> certificates of appreciation to each of the 17 awardees. <br /> -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> 8. Additional Construction Management Services for the Sandpiper Park Project; (304) <br /> REPORT: Parks, Recreation and Community Services Director Griffith, October 27, <br /> 1997 <br /> Parks, Recreation and Community Services Director Griffith, described the conditions <br /> that changed this project into three separate contracts for site work, the school and the <br /> community center. These included opening the school in September 1997, before the <br /> community center was completed, the long process of seeking state approvals, and <br /> rejection of the rust community center bids. This task order will complete the three <br /> projects, including the community center, still scheduled for March 1998.
