TENTATIVE AGREEMENT BETWEEN ATTACHMFNT 9 <br /> REDWOOD CITY AND 7.1.A. - Page 30 <br /> REDWOOD CITY MANAGEMENT EMPLOYEES'ASSOCIATION <br /> RE: MOU CHANGES <br /> 11.4 Probationary Period for Promotional Appointments (MOVE TO ARTICLE 9) <br /> The probationary period for promotional appointments shall be one (1) year. Upon written recommendation <br /> of a probationary employee's department head and approval of the Personnel Officer, a probationary period <br /> may be lengthened by an amount of time corresponding to an employee's leave of absence during the <br /> probationary period. ..::. •.-. ._,......;. . , • • •--: e --' :.:...... . .. .•: •- <br /> 16.11 Bilingual Pay <br /> RCMEA members who are assigned job duties requiring bilingual skills as determined by the employee's <br /> sueewiearDepartment Head are eligible to receive a two and one-half percent(2.5%) pay differential for the <br /> use of bilingual skills in job duties arising during the normal course of work. <br /> RCMEA members with advanced bilingual skills who are assigned job duties requiring advanced bilingual <br /> skills as determined by the employee's Department Head are eligible to receive a five percent (5%) pay <br /> differential for the use of these advanced skills in job duties arising during the normal course of work. <br /> Advanced bilingual skills, for the purpose of the five percent (5%) pay differential shall be defined as the <br /> ability to translate and communicate beyond conversational speaking and/or basic writing. Employees who <br /> receive the five percent (5%) advanced bilingual differential are required, when called upon, to utilize their <br /> skills citywide. <br /> Eligibility for the regular or advanced bilingual pay differential shall be determined by the Personnel Officer <br /> on the basis of an oral proficiency test and an oral and written proficiency test, respectively. Both tests will <br /> be developed and administered by the City, To retain the 2.5% or 5% differential, employees will be <br /> required to pass the City's al-proficiency test once every three years. <br /> 18.6 nn'},. Parental Leave of Absence Without Pay <br /> 18.6.1 Maternity-Parental leave of absence without pay or-benefits shall be granted upon request to non- <br /> disabled, qualifying probationary and regular female-employees for the purpose of parent-child bonding following the <br /> birth of a child or the placement of a child in the employee's family for adoption or foster care for a that period of <br /> time-requested-up to one(1) year. <br /> 18.6.2 Maternity Parental leave shall be granted when the following conditions have been met: <br /> 18.6.2.1 The employee shall notify his or her immediate supervisor in writing <br /> - e -=•. . . - • - - • . - ••••-e, e. no later than ninety (90) <br /> Page 4 of 4 <br />
