7.1.C. - Page 2
common Joint Use of Facilities contract based on sample contracts from the National
Childhood Policy & Legal Analysis Network to Prevent Childhood Obesity (NPLAN),
similar to the sample contract in the Playing Smart Joint Use Toolkit.
In November 2012, the City Council and the Redwood City School Board approved a
Joint Use Agreement that included six schools with the most active use by our
community's youth sports organizations. We wanted to spend some time to ensure that
the policies and procedures within the agreement were easy to follow and to consider
any alterations. The Joint Use Team met several times and concluded that the joint use
agreement works and has been beneficial to all parties.
After careful review by both the County Counsel and the City Attorney, Amendment No.
1 to the Joint Use Agreement includes the remaining school sites in the District. The
Redwood City School Board approved Amendment No. 1 at their May 28, 2014
meeting.
ALTERNATIVES
Council may choose not to approve Amendment No.1 and to have the Joint Use Team
re-convene and address any outstanding concerns.
FISCAL IMPACT
None.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
This activity is not a project under CEQA as defined in CEQA Guidelines, section
15378, because it has no potential for resulting in either a direct or foreseeable physical
change in the environment.
CHRISTOPHER BETH
PARKS, RECREATION AND COMMUNITY SERVICES DIRECTOR
ROBERT B.
